Battle of the Seasons - Episode 19

Postby Cake for Brains » Wed May 02, 2007 4:05 pm

I have to confess that I'm pretty happy with the way these polls seem to be going, so I thought I'd go on right ahead and start off the next one. I think we got 22 votes for one of them - which is a personal record for me!

You know the drill by now - vote for your favourite 19th episode from the eleven seasons.

The poll will remain open for a week.

Happy voting!

Sadly, in order to make these polls work, I had to separate Three Dates and a Breakup into two episode. Please bear in mind that, should you vote for this episode, that you are only judging the first half (the party and Frasier's first bad date).

Mixed bunch of episodes here. 'Morning Becomes Entertainment' is pretty good, but not up to the standards of the Joe Keenan coined Bebe episodes. 'Deathtrap' is a very good episode (no matter what Rudy and Strat say) and 'IQ' is good fun. So, it came down to the first episode of 'Three Dates' and 'Give Him the Chair'. I love them both to death, but today, my mind tells me to go with the latter. A great blend of comedy and emotion. Brilliant Season 1 episode.

Give Him The Chair - top Frasier.

IQ and 3D&AB are quite close.

What a great bunch of episodes. I was torn between ''Three Dates...'' and ''Give Him The Chair,'' had to go with the former as it's my favourite part. The latter is an outstanding episode, mind you.

Give Him the Chair, simply a delicious episode.
Though my mouse hovered over Daphne Returns which I like for a few reasons.
Is Morning Becomes Entertainment not the episode where at the end Bebe tries luring Niles into morning TV but Frasier shouts "Don't look into her eyes, Niles!"?

A REALLY DIFFICULT CHOICE THIS ONE!

I vacilated between Give Him the Chair and Three Dates and a Break-Up but eventually went with Three Dates and a Break-Up.

While my favorite part of TDAABU takes place in the second half (the scene between Martin and Frasier in the kitchen) I love the whole episode and watching Frasier admire "the view" cracks me up every time!

I'm having the same crisis as everyone else! I voted Give Him The Chair, my favourite S1 ep, but would have loved to vote for TDAAB pt1. In fact, the way these polls works actually does me a favour this time around as I can always vote for TDAAB pt2 in the next poll! Perfect compromise!

Mind you, something stellar will probably be up against it now I've said that...

That's my main problem with these polls - I don't like separating episodes, or giving them two chances at winning. I have a feeling for example that 'Goodnight Seattle' is going to win both the Episode 23 and the Episode 24 poll. Oh well...

Not really - just stuff like 'Dr Nora', 'First Date' and 'Breaking the Ice'.

It won't be getting my ep 24 vote! I'll have to see about 23...

Which season finale do you rate higher than Goodnight Seattle?

For me, it's going to be a tough call between 'My Coffee with Niles' and 'Shutout in Seattle'.

Someone To Watch Over Me will get at least one vote here - from BGF. It's her favourite episode. For some reason she is drawn to an episode featuring a maniacal stalker...

I actually prefer the first part of Goodnight, Seattle to the second part. I love the scenes between Frasier and Charlotte.

The second half of it might just lose out to Odd Man Out for me. MAYBE! I'll have to wait and see what mood I'm in at that point.

Looks like i have the same problem as a few others here. TDAAB is one of my top 10 episodes, but i always find it difficult to break it up into two seperate episodes - it must be seen as one, imho.

I guess i'll have to go with GHTC, this time around. We're now hitting a stellar amount of fantastic S1 episodes. Be interesting to see what they come up against in other seasons...

Morning Becomes Entertainment. I think Give Him The Chair is hideously overrated, and I can't contemplate a division in "Three Dates and a Breakup".

I agree, I've never seen what all the hype is about that episode. Apart from Martin's little speech about what the chair means to him, I find it fairly run-of-the-mill. And the school play scene's a bit boring, too.

I find Give Him the Chair a great blend between the comedic and the sentimental. I love the whole scene in the store when Niles and Frasier are testing out the new chair. Niles comment about renting it it's own apartment is great! Daphne getting "into" the chair is very funny and Martin's "This is obscene" comment rates high too.

Not only is Martin's speech about why his chair means so much to him sentimental but too is Frasier's quest to get said chair back. There's just so much involved in the episode. That's why it ranks so high for me.

Now, TBH, in the way of "Martin's Chair" episodes, I actually prefer Bla-Z-Boy to Give Him the Chair!

Morning Becomes Entertainment is just "ok" for me. It's an episode I can take or leave. Nothing special, nothing horrible. Just "meh."

I just think what comedy there is is not brilliant. The sentiments are great, and it is a classic episode, but I much prefer the S7 option here.

That's kind of how I feel about Morning Becomes Entertainment. There are some funny bits but it just doesn't do it for me.

I feel the same about Morning.... It's a bit like when you butter bread sometimes and the butter is too cold, the butter just goes in little clumps. That's what the episode is like; funny bits dotted around the episode, then blandness in between (sorry for the stupid comparison there).
Oh yeah, and i voted for IQ. Love the restaurant scene! [/i]

You're the one who's infiltrating my dreams! What's more stalkerish than that?

And yes, I did vote for Someone To Watch Over Me. It's not my favourite episode, though - just one I like a lot.

'Three Dates and a Break-Up' for me. I like 'Give Him The Chair' but nowhere near as much as everyone else seems to.
