Battle of the Seasons - Episode 17

Postby Cake for Brains » Sun Apr 29, 2007 12:57 pm

I have to confess that I'm pretty happy with the way these polls seem to be going, so I thought I'd go on right ahead and start off the next one. I think we got 22 votes for one of them - which is a personal record for me!

You know the drill by now - vote for your favourite 17th episode from the eleven seasons.

The poll will remain open for a week.

Happy voting!

Aww! Why, oh why! The sublime 'Dinner Party', which rightfully deserves to win this category is up against the juggernaut that is the all conquering 'Daphne's Room', which will definitely win this poll! I'm upset - but my vote still goes for 'Dinner Party', because I think it's a simply amazing episode, and certainly in my Top 3.

In fact, all the episodes representing Seasons 1-6 are stellar, but as usualy the 7-11 candidates let the side down.

Daphne's Room is easily the winner, although I love A Midwinter Night's Dream and Dinner Party, the latter being a tough one to say "no" to.

''Daphne's Room'' for me. I hope the hugely overrated ''Dinner Party'' doesn't win. It's quite funny, but nothing happens, and the B story is just one big sex joke.

It's not overrated! Trust me though, it's got no hope against 'Daphne's Room' - so don't worry, you're safe.

I voted for High Crane Drifter.

Very tricky choice from the first 4 Seasons but I have decided to go with:-

A Midwinter Night's Dream

High Crane Drifter a close second

A Midwinter Night's Dream - but what a solid batch from S1-6!

Yeah - the almighty Daphne's Room isn't quite squashing the opposition..

It should get BN's vote, though, shouldn't it?

You've got money to spare? I thought you'd spent it all on DVDs!

Was a toss up between A Midwinter's Night Dream, Daphne's Room and Three Blind Dates. But I went with Three Blind Dates to give S9 something to do in these polls!

Plus, I love the "date" Martin sets up for Frasier!

Had to go with Daphne's Room so very closely followed by Dinner Party. I have to agree, Cakey, DP is a fab episode. One of those one set only episodes, much like My Coffee with Nile.

I wish they'd done more of those real time episodes. 'Dinner Party' and 'My Coffee with Niles' are comedy perfection and both comfortably reside in my Top 3.

'A Midwinter Night's Dream' for me. I chose it over 'Daphne's Room' because it's just so untypical of a sitcom, it's romantic, beautiful, funny and so uniquely Frasier.

Wow, what a contrast! The first 6 eps are all classics but 4 of the next 5 are total duds! Shout out to Three Blind Dates which gets overlooked at times due to the complete shite that follows it, but it's a very enjoyable ep (especially the middle segment, that's classic Frasier).

But I had to vote for Daphne's Room, obviously.

And Cakey, I sympathise with you about Dinner Party. A similar fate befell Dial M For Martin if you remember!

Yay for the shout to Three Blind Dates!

I agree with Cakey on the "real time" episodes as well. They don't fall in my top bunch but I do really enjoy My Coffee With Niles and Dinner Party. Not enough for Dinner Party to usurp Daphne's Room, Midwinter Nights Dream or Three Blind Dates though.

Yep, both episodes were terribly unlucky by what they were drawn against. The competition against 'Dial M' was unbelievably fierce. I felt quite sorry for you actually - it didn't stand a chance against 'The Matchmaker' and 'Halloween', great as it is.

High Crane Drifter

firstly the People of Seattle! Listen to me rant, the etiquette lesson and the final scene. Secondly, one of my favourites for imitating Kelsey Grammer and thirdly, oddly enough my friend and I do that thing where Frasier sights a seat and Niles cries: "the biscotti!" and Frasier shouts, leave it
Odd.

It was between High Crane Drifter and Daphne's Room for me. In the end though I went for Daphne's Room.
Wow, between school and basketball, when am I...going to be able to watch Frasier!!! Oh, don't worry I'll make time.

After a slow start, it looks like Daphne's Room has conquered all before it, as predicted!

Exactly! I'll always have a soft spot for the ep that got me into the show.
