Battle of the Seasons - Episode 16

Postby Cake for Brains » Fri Apr 27, 2007 9:51 pm

I have to confess that I'm pretty happy with the way these polls seem to be going, so I thought I'd go on right ahead and start off the next one. I think we got 19 votes for one of them - which is a personal record for me!

You know the drill by now - vote for your favourite 16th episode from the eleven seasons.

The poll will remain open for a week.

Happy voting!

Some good episodes here, but my vote goes to 'Boo!'. To be fair, 'Look Before You Leap' is probably the superior episode, but I went for the S11 episode because I think it's the most underrated episode of the whole show and easily makes my Top 20. I think it's probably the most consistently funny scripts ever produced, and it's packed with great moments, and a touching ending.

'Dr Mary' also deserves a nod.

I expect 'Look Before You Leap' to easily win this poll, which is why I didn't give it my vote. I hope it does. I thought it was overrated for about 18 months, but now it just seems to improve on every watch.

I wanted to vote for Sam Comes Back, or Beware of Greeks but in the end went for the Lilieth episode. Mainly based on the opening bit on the radio and the family reunion rounding up with Daphne's blackout easing with the aircraft taking off.

Excellent

Look Before You Leap for me, but again there are some very good episodes here and only S8's Docu-Drama that I really don't like.

I voted for Look Before You Leap. Fraternal Schwinns would have been my second choice.

LBYL is the wonderful winner, although I do like The Show Where Lilith Comes Back and Dr. Mary (It has to be said that her first appearance is much better than her second!)

LBYL was excellent in oh so many ways. Do like the part where Niles is following that woman in KACL and Frasier throws the water just as he passes the door.

Toss up between Look Before You Leap and The Show Where Lilith Comes Back but had to go with TSWLCB.

Lilith: You're the only man I've ever loved!
Frasier: So are you!

Yeah, I think TSWLCB begins that run of amazing episodes at the end of S1.

It's a shame The Unnatural seems to be going unloved; I love love love that Freddie/Daphne/Niles love triangle sub-plot!

All the scenes where Niles and Freddie are competing for Daphne are hilarious! I wonder what he'll be like in S8...

I went for 'Look Before You Leap' - brilliant episode, and all leading up to one of the most sublimely funny set-pieces the show ever did.

Like Cakey, I think 'Boo!' is an underrated episode, but it still couldn't quite match 'LBYL' for me.

I don't think it's unloved - it's just one of those episodes that will never win any polls because it's sort of 'forgettable' until you watch it and remember how good it is!

I agree about the Freddie/Daphne/Niles thing - the look between Freddie and Niles at the end of the episode is priceless, especially as it seems that DHP is trying not to laugh.

I rather like The Unnatural. Freddy is at his most likable and I love the "Grandpa can't do math in his head?" line!

But it's no TSWLCB or LBYL!

I'd probably say Look Before you Leap is my favourite of these, but it'll win at a canter, so i'm going to give my vote to Wheels Of Fortune, as it's an underrated gem, imho. Keaton is fantastic, and i love Frasier getting worked up at the sermon thing.
