Battle of the Seasons - Episode 15

Postby Cake for Brains » Wed Apr 25, 2007 7:10 pm

I have to confess that I'm pretty happy with the way these polls seem to be going, so I thought I'd go on right ahead and start off the next one. I think we got 19 votes for one of them - which is a personal record for me!

You know the drill by now - vote for your favourite 15th episode from the eleven seasons.

The poll will remain open for a week.

Happy voting!

One of the hardest polls yet, in my opinion. I can see it being a competition between 'Room Service' and 'Out with Dad'.

Even the S8/9 contenders are strong here - and 'To Tell the Truth' is a wonderfully poignant episode. Joe Keenan gets a good showing with 4 episodes, and I really do have a soft spot for 'You Scratch my Book' and 'Caught in the Act', both of which are underrated and really brilliant IMO. In fact, part of me wants to vote for the latter, because I know it won't get any votes, and it deserves some.

Anyway, Lilith in bed with Niles came close, but Martin 'gaying-it-up' wins it for me. 'Out with Dad' it is.

'A Word to the Wiseguy'.

Not a huge fan of the two episodes that I suspect will dominate this poll!

''Out With Dad.'' The definitive farce, IMO.

Tough choice between Room Service and Out with Dad, but I went for the former. I also oyed at going with Roz's Krantz..., and underated, touching episode, but decided against it with the other two masterpieces.

I voted for Roz's Krantz and Gouldenstein Are Dead.

Forgive me! but I voted for You Scratch My Book

I was torn between Word to the Wise-guy (Jerome etc) and Room Service which I adore but this one I had to.

Some key 'make me laugh idiotically' moments. The noise that Frasier says Honey makes him do. The 'high horse' and 'you're woman is English!' lines. The end scene lines "Well, your bag boy has arrived."
The bookstore scene.

Well, Mayday's worn out.

Great choice. 'You Scratch my Book' is an underrated gem, and contains one of the most well-delivered lines ever - 'Not to worry, brother - that's the special at Father Jack's chicken-chicken-chicken!'

Roz's Krantz & Gouldenstein Are Dead, actually it's one of my favorites. I love the "Ah, the angle of death, nice gal." Makes me laugh every time.
Wow, between school and basketball, when am I...going to be able to watch Frasier!!! Oh, don't worry I'll make time.

I like a fair few of these episodes, without any really being towards my favourites.

OWD, YSMB, YCTACBHC, RS, CITA... even the first half of HC, i like. There's probably only Trophy Girlfriend that i detest here.

I'll go with Out With Dad, just ahead of Room Service, this time.

Turn my back for a second and Out With Dad gets four votes. This is interesting. I'm sticking with You Scratch My Book.

I thought Room Service would do well, but for some reason I always thought Out with Dad was more popular...?

Two letters put Room Service above Out With Dad for me!

Ohhhh kayyyyy!

Best "bit part" ever in the entire run of the series!

Plus, Room Service is my second favorite episode falling just below Bad Boy and Dirty Girl just slightly above Frasier Grinch.

She can push those breasts all the way up to Canada and I won't budge!"

Not to mention Daphne and Marty's protests when they find out Lilith is coming. "You never said...!"
finished off by "Oh suck it up!"

Hard to choose between OWD and RS . Had to go with the latter though, solely for the part where we see Niles say "morning" to Lilith. I just didnt see it coming when I saw this ep for the first time.

Ooh some more great eps here. I went with Out With Dad but could easily have picked Room Service too, that's wonderful.

For a change, I think the later seasons have the advantage in this round. Caught In The Act is brilliant, one of my favourites from the final season. To Tell The Truth is one of the many reasons I love S6 and Hooping Cranes and The Proposal are also decent to say they're from Frasier's 'fallow period'.

I agree about You Scratch My Book too, it feels a bit like Joe Keenan's 'forgotten classic'. Nice appearence from Gene Simmons' better half, too.

I agree with every word of that. Part of me wishes I'd given my vote to 'You Scratch' or 'Caught in the Act', because it's sad that they haven't got any votes, when they really do deserve some. 'The Proposal' deserves some too - I think it's in the Top 5 of best Season 8-10 episodes and feels like a 'classic' era episode to me.
