Frasier Forum Awards: Nominations - Worst Frasier Episode

Postby Stu » Tue Jul 25, 2006 1:20 pm

I know Cakey wanted to start the next nominations thread every two days, so I thought it was about the right time to kick off the worst Frasier episode nominations. Following the Best Frasier Episode thread example, again 5 nominations are allowed - though I should stress the order does not matter, this thread is purely a nominations gathering process not a voting one.

Seeing the response to the Best Frasier Episode, I'm sure this one will provoke just as diverse range of reactions.

My own choices would be:

- War Of The Words
- Frasier's Edge
- A Day In May
- Some Assembly Required
- The Wizard And Roz

Frasier: I suppose the situation you're in is that you'd like to stay with Maris but you'd like an affair with Daphne
Niles: Yes. Can I do that?
Frasier: No, you can't!

Terrible stuff is ''To Kill A Talking Bird.'' Niles would never let a flee ridden bird perch on his shoulder, and would die before letting it peck at his face. Madness.

To Kill a Mockingbird is a great book, though. Have you read it, Strat?

Look at my avatar though, don't you find it just a tiny bit funny?

Here's my choices (I'm not allowed to just put Head Game five times, am I? oh well):-

Head Game
The Wizard and Roz
The Guilt Trippers
Kissing Cousin
Frasier Has Spokane

Another one that belongs on the "Odd Frasier Fan" thread  You've got to be careful mate, you'll overhaul BGF in the eccentricity stakes soon! I agree with your sentiments, but its far too funny an episode to let some minor character point spoil my enjoyment of it. The cockatoo on Niles' head is one of the greatest sight gags EVER!

My worst five (which has recently changed)
War of the Words
A Day In May
The Wizard and Roz
Some Assembly Required
A New Position For Roz

As with the favourite eps thread, five slots just isn't enough!

To Kill A Talking Bird is in my all-time Top 10. I watched it again a couple of months ago and found it one of the tightest scripted episodes the show ever did. There's barely a second where there's not a funny line or hilarious visual, remarkable quality for a writer's debut on the show.

Anyway, on to the stinkiest of the stinkers  :

War Of The Words
A Day In May
Legal Tender Love And Care
Frasier Has Spokane
The Guilt Trippers
"Then came Lilith. If I knew then what I know now, I would have walked down the aisle with the ice sculpture and had her stand by the buffet table to keep the shrimp cold."

I have seaons 1-5 on DVD, and hope to get 6 and 7 in the coming month.

I find it very depressing how almost all your selections are from later seasons :(

Seasons 6, 7 and 11 are still great seasons though, so you definitely have something to look forward to there. To a lesser extent seasons 8, 9 and 10 also have great episodes to enjoy, they're just a little harder to find amongst the chaff.

EVERY season of Frasier has its plus points, its just that the incredible consistency of seasons 1-5 tends to highlight the negatives in later seasons.

It's really all part of our cruel plot to keep fans from buying the DVDs of later seasons. We feed off causing people to miss out.

We're evil, you see... :D

I'm extremely suprised to see ''Momma Mia'' in your list. That's a killer in my books.

Sparky, you were going to put me in your worst episode list? :o

I wouldn't have locked you in the gallows, but I would have been very upset to think you disliked me that much...

But I am the actual episode itself! :D

There's no question about it. Which episode would you like to be? The Ski Lodge?

I haven't seen most of S8-10 so I can't really vote in this thread, and just got S8 delivered today. Imagine my pleasure *ahem* to look at the episode listing and recognizing some of the episodes mentioned frequently here as appearing. On the bright side, I think I have almost a morbid interest after reading this thread to see what makes them so bad.
