Frasier Forum Awards: Nominations - Best Frasier Episode

Postby Cake for Brains » Fri Jul 21, 2006 2:41 pm

Please read my other thread 'Frasier Forum Awards - The Rules' in order to know all about the voting process.

Okay, I thought we'd start with perhaps the most prodigious award of them, your favourite overall episode of 'Frasier' ever made.

I am going to ask everyone to nominate their Top 5 episodes, and the episodes with the most nominations will make the eventual shortlist and contend for the ultimate award. The 5 episodes with the most votes will make the shortlist for the award, and when the final shortlist is published, you will have another chance to vote in this category.

BEST FRASIER EPISODE

My choices
1) Dinner Party
2) My Coffee with Niles
3) High Holidays
4) Ham Radio
5) Death and the Dog

Now please vote for your Top 5 episodes, and I'll start the next poll on Sunday (providing the computer is working at my Dad's). Think carefully about the episodes you nominate, and let's hope your episodes make the eventual shortlist. Get voting! Thanks.

I object to all these 'Ham Radio's' !

Sparky thinks...

1. Caught in the Act
2. Where There's Smoke.... etc.
3. The Two Mrs Cranes
4. The Focus Group
5. Merry Christmas Mrs Moskowitz

ODD.... aren't I ?

Yeah, they should put some decent radios on sale.

But I voted for Ham Radio! You can't object to something I voted for! :D I am the all-knowing BGF. I am the whole world. I am the galaxy, I am the universe. I am the Freak.

You object to all the Ham Radios except the one that I voted for. :D My Ham Radio vote is sacred.

I notice that Spiderdorawindacoratabimuflyspinbuttons is absent. How this magnificent episode can be neglected is a mystery to me.

Tricky. At the moment, i'll go:

1. My Coffee With Niles
2. Author, Author
3. The Two Mrs Cranes
4. Dad Loves Sherry, The Boys Just Whine
5. Shrink Rap

I was wondering if there is any weighting to the choices? Does an episode which gets four 1sts and two 2nds, for example, beats an episode getting four 1sts, a 2nd and a 3rd, or is it just five episodes chosen in no particular order?

Before I carry on I must clarify that I am not criticising anyone here. But how in gods name can you say They're Playing our Song is your favourite episode? I thought it was a dull one-joke episode.

In defence of Leanne, I can understand why she would choose TPOS as her favourite ep, even though it's not near the top of my list. Frasier's Magnum Opus moment is a little like Niles' Three Valentine's segment. Some people love that bit so much it becomes their favourite episode. In other words, each to their own.

My contribution:-

1) Dial M For Martin
2) The Ski Lodge
3) The Matchmaker
4) Daphne's Room
5) Dad Loves Sherry, The Boys Just Whine

No Ham Radio's here!

No Spiderdorawindacoratabimuflyspinbuttons either! :o

I realised today that I am the episode Ham Radio. It came to me in a flash. I am Ham Radio, the episode from the fourth season of Frasier. I don't know how, or why. But I just know that I am this episode. I know.

I just can't help it Ben - the song (particularly Niles's narration) is my favourite Frasier moment of all. It sticks out for me and that disc on my Season 7 set is worn out because I've watched it so often. I know that overall, it isn't the 'best' Frasier episode by any means - plot wise, character wise, whatever-other-wise, but it's my personal favourite. I probably love Author, Author just as much as They're Playing Our Song, but it didn't make me laugh as much.

Just to add further weirdness, I think my taste when it comes to Frasier is probably unusual anyway - I like Season 8 (even the Daphne gets fat storyline), loved the Kate Costas character, and even though I like Dan Butler alot, was never overly keen on Bulldog. :? Maybe I should start an 'unusual Frasier fans thread'.

I agree with you. I liked season 8 quite a bit (although I haven't seen all of it), but I LOVE season 9. I'm currently watching it, and I'm laughing quite a bit more than I did in even season 7, I think.
Oh, and I think I'll join that thread
