I feel ROTTEN! I have a killer cold and my eyes and nose will not stop running!

Thanks Cat. I know there are lots of worse things I could have, so I suppose it's a bit weak of me to complain about a cold, but they just make me feel very slimy, snotty, stuffy and sore, which isn't fun.

Sorry to hear you are ill bbf.

I am sad because a friend of mine had a miscarriage. She is a drummer. Whe last we met I gave her articles about pregnancy and drumming. Kind of useless now. She had been so excited. I am very sad.

Get well soon BGF!

Sorry to hear about your friend, Maple. I had a miscarriage - it's a horrible thing to go through. Nothing anyone says can make it any better. :( How many weeks pregnant was she?

It was recent, her learning of the pregnancy. I have not asked for detqils.

She is very upset. I feel helpless and hopeless. For the first time in years I cried. The last time was when a friend lost his two boys and wife in a car accident he caused. A blow from which he never recovered.
My friend M is very sad. There is nothing I can say....

Shit!

I never, ever, want to catch the ****ing X53 bus to Exeter again. An hour in the car followed by 3.5 hours on a crappy old bus with no toilet is bad enough. Today, on the way back, the bloody thing broke down, so I was on it for 4.5 hours. Next time, I am either driving or catching the train (ridiculously long and convoluted route, but infinitely preferable to the bus). Either option would cost me a lot more than a bus ticket, but it's worth it.

I haven't driven for three weeks, and since passing my test I've only driven more than three miles from home on one occasion. I'm back at Exeter in a month. Here's my plan between now and then:

Tomorrow or Sunday - visit a beach 3 miles away with Keren.
Tuesday (K at playschool) - drive to Norden and back (6 miles).
Wednesday or Friday - take K to a playzone 15 miles away.
The following Tuesday - drive to Weymouth and back.

If I can do that last one, which will be a 60 mile round trip, I reckon I'll then be confident enough to go further.

It's in writing now... that makes it a contract, I have to do it!

You're right. It's so silly to have a car sitting there that I'm not using.

I've just worked out that the train would actually be cheaper than taking the car - this is a bit unfortunate, as it takes some of the incentive away. However, after that horrible bus journey, I'm feeling really motivated to get out and do some driving, so I'm sticking to The Contract! (capital letters make it sound more official)
