I think he's pretty good. He can certainly write some pretty creepy scenes. He's a good laugh, too. Good value when he'd guest on one of James Whale's radio shows. Worth a punt if you feel like a change from King.

To Kill a Mockingbird - Harper Lee

Been meaning to read this for a while. It was one of a stack of books in our accommodation last week, so I read it over three or four days. It was a really good read!

That sounds familiar.... is it one that is studied for GCSE Eng Lit??? If so, I haven't read it, but quoted from the first page and last page of it and got a C for english  :D

I am currently reading Smart Blonde- Dolly Parton by Stephen Miller, over halfway through and I am learning so much about Dolly Parton, shame its the only book on her the whole of the Dorset Library system have on her though, as I wouldn't mind finding out some more!

Haha, clever! Like me with Jane Austen's 'Emma' at A-level - read the first chapter, skimmed the rest and thankfully the exam question was about chapter 1! Got an A.

Always wanted to read that... won't ask if its any good though!

I am clever, also had no choice, as was expelled from school, and the let me in for my exams, and decided they would give my a copy of the book 15 mins before the exam on it started! Think it annoyed them ever so much that I still managed to get a C though!!

It is the worst book I've ever read. I hate it!

Thanks DG, had no help from my school at all from the beginning of year 11, but still managed to get 4 'c's and a 'b'.
Kinda makes me wish They had diagnosed my problems before I left school, I might not have been expelled for my 'bizarre' behaviour then and got some really good grades!

Worst book ever?? I thought that was the Hobbit?

I've not read The Hobbit. LOTR was very, very hard-going for me, though.

Yeah, you could probably have got straight As if you'd stayed in school!

My mum decided to smack a couple of the teachers instead, and scream at them

But the best revenge of all is living well! and turning up at the school a few years later for a St John duty with an awesome best friend that insulted the school when asked about it, and refused to give them the healthy donation they asked for, also helped make things a bit better! 8-)

I haven't been able to get through The Hobbit and it took me forever to get through the LOTR trilogy. Once was more than enough for me!

 Started Four Past Midnight by SK last night.

Collection of four long short stories starting off with The Langoliers.

Meanwhile, Joanne is continuing to eat up the Bernard Cornwell's Sharpe novels
I've already read them all, and after a marathon of the movies I suggested Jo try one.
She's now nearly finished the 6th (Sharpe's Rifles) and is looking forward to the 7th.

 I'm now on the third story in the collection, The Library Policeman.
I'm really enjoying this one, and it only takes a line or two to "fall through the page" 8-)

Just read an abridged version of Alice in Wonderland to Keren. I'd never realised how bloody weird and nonsensical it is!
