Your most hated fictional character

Postby Paul B » Sun Jun 13, 2010 3:26 am

Cakey and I were talking about unlikeable characters Doctor Who thread, so I thought it would be interesting to see what everyone else's thoughts are.

I'm going with Captain Cardboard-- er I mean Riley- from Buffy the Vampire Slayer, for reasons I've gone over a number of times. He was a very wooden actor, his emotional range was limited to grunts, and it was very hard for me to like him or his 2 personas - army man & oh-god-why-won't-you-pay-attention-to-me-while-the-world-is-in-mortal-peril man. One of the few characters to literally make me wince whenever he's on screen.

I'll probably think of more later. How about you?

Rita on Dexter. HATE HER! Useless and annoying are the GOOD things I have to say about the character! I also cannot stand Foreman's character on House. I want to smack him up every time he's on screen!

I used to really hate 13 but after a while I hated Cameron more than 13. I started to like 13 after she and Foreman broke up.

After reading an article about January Jones bashing into a bunch of parked cars a few days ago, I have to add Betty Draper to my list of hated fictional characters.

One character that I really dislike is Frank Spencer, played by Michael Crawford. He makes me cringe, I can't stand him! I know a lot of people liked 'Some Mothers Do 'Ave 'Em', and I know that he did all his own stunts, etc., but it still seems to me that he was wasting his time playing an imbecile like that when he has such a wonderful singing voice. He was superb in Phantom, it's such a contrasting role to his sitcom days.

Mr.Brittas.

I would add any character from any soap opera, but life's too short to bitch about what's real, and what so obviously isn't.

Been re-watching the early to mid-seasons of ER, and it's reminded me how much i hate Kerry Weaver. I know she's a fan favourite, but I just want to bury her in the Nevada desert.

New additions:

Susan, from Doctor Who. She spends her entire life screeching, cowering and sobbing over the slightest things. It's hard to believe she is this famed adventurer from Gallifrey. The Doctor's descendants should be awesome, not this whiney annoyance.

Connor from Angel is recently driving my patience, too. Mad Men fans would know him as Pete Campbell. As with Susan, you'd think the spawn of such an awesome character would be awesome themselves, but no. Come to think of it, Buffy's pseudo-sister Dawn isn't much better - what is it with the Buffyverse and irritating adolescents that shouldn't technically exist in the first place?!

On reflection though, Riley (from my original post) hasn't annoyed me nearly as much as he used to. I enjoyed his character far more on a recent viewing.
