How I wish they were cherrypicking. That insanity is a lot more prevalent here than you think.

haha. There probably is a good number, if they were all rounded up together, but still a minority. Just a vocal one. It's that old saying "empty vessels make the most noise". They're obviously great for the media to use. Reminds me of when British press go to specific housing estates to guarantee clips of teenagers acting up: shouting; swearing; pulling faces at the camera; sticking the Vs up, and generally acting like dicks, to validate their articles on the declining state of the country through unruly youngsters.

I think you've got by far enough sensible people to keep the country relatively sane.

The thing is, it's not just what's in the media, it's what I come in contact with every day. The people I work with, the people I went to school with, even some of my relatives. Just yesterday I got this email forward from a person I would otherwise respect:

USPS New 44-Cent Stamp Celebrates a Muslim holiday.

If there is only ONE thing you forward today... let it be this!

President Obama has directed the United States Postal Service to REMEMBER and HONOR the EID MUSLIM holiday season with a new commemorative 44-Cent First Class Holiday Postage Stamp.

REMEMBER to adamantly & vocally BOYCOTT this stamp, when you are purchasing your stamps at the post office.

All you have to say is "No thank you, I do not want that Muslim Stamp on my letters!"

To use this stamp would be a slap in the face to all those AMERICANS who died at the hands of those whom this stamp honors.

REMEMBER the MUSLIM bombing of Pan Am Flight 103!

REMEMBER the MUSLIM bombing of the World Trade Center in 1993!

REMEMBER the MUSLIM bombing of the Marine Barracks in Lebanon !

REMEMBER the MUSLIM bombing of the Military Barracks in Saudi Arabia !

REMEMBER the MUSLIM bombing of the American Embassies in Africa !

REMEMBER the MUSLIM bombing of the USS COLE!

REMEMBER the MUSLIM attack on 9/11/2001 !

REMEMBER all the AMERICAN lives that were lost in those vicious MUSLIM attacks!

Pass this along to every Patriotic American that you know and get the word out! Honor the United States of America!

Hmm. You're always going to get stuff like that. But for all the people who talk like that, and try to impress on others, there are more people like yourself, Cat, etc, ridiculing it and openly talking to others about how pathetic it is. I just have to believe the balance is well in your favour.

We get similar whacky things over here. In the town my parents live there were stories every five minutes from certain types of people about community halls, sports halls, charity offices, even old folks homes, that were supposed to be getting closed by the council to either be turned into Mosques or refuges for illegal immigrants. The ignorance never ends, and when fears can be preyed upon, you'll never get some people to accept the mundane reality regarding that thing they fear.

You think for yourself, and you probably know many around you who can do the same.

Today I learnt that washing up liquid is really good for removing oil-based paint from your hands. I also learnt there's only one D.I.Y activity I actually enjoy...

Assuming this will turn nasty, but I'm going to ask anyway. What activity are you speaking of?

Or maybe he's just talking about the 'do it yourself' task that all men enjoy...
