If you think TV can't sink any lower than ITV's Saturday evening of cack then Five are currently screening another series of the reality show 'The Farm', the line-up of which includes ex-Dallas star Charlene Tilton, Lionel Blair, Public Enemy rapper Flavor Flav, porn star Ron Jeremy and of course, Keith Harris & Orville.

Oh no[:]:-O[/:]. When will this reality crap just F.O and die? B.A was it that annoying tw*t Richard Arnold who 'choiced ' ITV's line-up? Words can't begin to desribe how much I despise that man[:]}:-(([/:]. He's a fixture on Living TV home of those trashy US talk shows and W&G. Not many people make my skin crawl but he does for sure. Gary Bushell (sp?) takes the P out of him every week in 'The People'.

Good ep tonight, probably the most emotional Who episode I can rememberin a long time. Hope it spanked ITV in the ratings again...

I really liked last night's episode and thought it was one of the best of the series. it had quite a back to the future feel about it, with Rose damaging time. When the doctor died, that was quite sad but when Rose's dad threw himself in front of the car, that was such an emotional moment, great show though [:]:-)[/:]

Ali, it was 'witless' Polly Hudson who choiced all ITV's stuff on GMTV. Richard Arnold likes Doctor Who, as far as I know (although I agree he's annoying).

Fantastic episode on Saturday. Made me cry. And the ratings were...

Doctor Who: 7.5 million (43% share);
Celebrity Wrestling: 2.3 million (14% share).

It's pretty much unheard of for a non-soap drama to get over 40% these days. ITV is putting Star Wars up against it next week, now it's finally put Celebrity Wrestling out of its misery.

Also, Doctor Who's at 6.30pm next Saturday, making way for Eurovision. Don't forget!

Great episode on Saturday, although they really should have called it 'Don't Fear The Reaper'[:];-)[/:] I loved the music too, very eerie.

Yeah, I couldn't find much to fault with 'Father's Day'. Just loved it. It's easily the biggest TV treat of the week, and who'd have thought they could say that about something going out at 7pm on a Saturday night in 2005?

You've probably read this BA but they've had to tone down some of this Saturday's episode for being too gruesome! I think the sound of somebody's bones being crushed has been removed but I don't know if any visuals have been cut too.

And don't forget what the BBFC have been advising us when they slapped a '12' certificate on the next DVD release - apparently it's wrong to be cruel to daleks![:]:-I[/:]

Great episode on Sat.

The Beeb must be thrilled with the numbers they are getting, I’m sure they thought it would do well but its stomping all over ITV at the minute. 43% share! bet they never envisioned that level of success.

Thanks for the heads up B.A re the early start time I hadn’t realised, would have gone mad if I’d missed it.

Yeah - I think BBC1 has started trailing the half hour early start, but probably not quite well enough! I pity anyone switching on at 7pm to find it nearly over!

And yes, the BBC will be thrilled with the figures. I think it's been their biggest drama hit in years and years, even more impressive given the timeslot. Even Michael Grade has said he think it's quite good, and his son is an avid viewer!

I think Doctor Who has got some serious competition this week. Even though I don't like Star Wars, it is the first time the Phantom Menace has been televised on terrestrial TV, and there is a big hype surrounding Star Wars at the moment. I think ITV has picked the best time to show it and I think it'll get good ratings. I'm not watching it mind, I'm stick with Who

Be in no doubt, the ONLY reason ITV are showing Star Wars films over the next few weeks is to compete with Doctor Who and trying to knock it's share down a bit. I think they'll certainly succeed but as I own all the Star Wars films anyway I'll obviously be watching the beeb. It will be interesting to see this week's rating's as it's possible with all the Star Wars hype around at the moment that ITV may actually beat BBC on the Saturday early evening slot.

Great ep again tonight. One word sums it up for me - chilling! There'll be plenty of kids having nightmares tonight, and no doubt some cruel older brothers and sisters whispering "Are you my mummy?" through their bedroom doors...

It isn't the first time The Phantom Menace has been shown on ITV - it's been on at least twice before to the best of my recollection! And it's absolutely terrible...

Fantastic episode tonight. Loved the general setting, the creepiness, Captain Jack, Richard Wilson, and Rose comparing Jack's hi-tech ways with the Doctor's more 'old-fashioned' approach. Really made me appreciate the character of the Doctor even more, that!

Fantastic episode again. Definitely a "behind the sofa" storyline. My daughter wanted to leave the light on tonight! "Are you my mummy?" Can't wait until next week.

Dr Who is "appointment TV" in our household. Apparently it has just started in Australia this weekend, so should replicate the great ratings it is getting here in the UK.

Yep, it's 'appointment' telly for my family too!

It also trounced 'The Phantom Menace' last night, I'm delighted to say! The earlier 6.30pm start hit Doctor Who a little, but it was still a good result (especially when you bear in mind that anything over 30% share is considered a major triumph):

Doctor Who: 6.6 million (35% share);
Star Wars: 3.5 million (18% share).

Yay!

A truly creepy episode! Seemed to be a few references to Spielberg films in there although this may have been a coincidence. I noticed the same cymbal-playing monkey toy as seen in Close Encounters while the disembodied child voice of 'mummy!' was straight out of Poltergeist. All that and the episode was set in 1941!

Always nice to have the cliffhanger too[:]:-)[/:]

I know what you mean, it was a very sinister atmospheric episode, but of course really enjoyable. I think that one was one of the best yet

Trust ITV to show 'Star Wars' on the very weekend the new film is released[:]NUT[/:]. It's also a bit daft showing like v like, any sci-fi fans will be glued to Dr Who so why air a similar type of thing against it?

Because ITV is creatively barren these days. Rather than offer a genuine, quality alternative they decided to try and split the sci-fi audience - just as they often do when scheduling Emmerdale against EastEnders. This is ITV's 50th anniversary year, but I think it should be more of a look at what the channel once was than the travesty it is now!

Development:

Apparently, Billie Piper had QUIT Dr who!

So that she can make it in movies....who else can see a Shelley long situation happening?

Ok, so no sidekick.

Where does one go to be david Tennant's sidekick?

I actually expected her to leave during the second run, so it's not really a shock. I do hope David Tennant stays on a little longer than Chris, though!

Rumours now abound that Jennifer Ellison, of Brookside (yawn) and Phantom of the Opera (yawn) fame will be the new companion. But this came from the Daily Star so take it with a great wad of salt.
