Looking online McClory kept trying to remake Thunderball into the 90's as well as Warhead -Warhead 2000 AD (as it's cited on Wikipedia). So he had quite the Thunderball-bug up his rear.
Maybe good thing he didn't remake OHMSS or From Russia With Love.
Hehe, I read your comments on that - you're really not a fan of that film are you. I think it was one of the least enjoyable Bond flicks of the Connery era, but I still enjoy it.
I think McClory had joint rights on Thunderball with Saltzman and Broccoli which is why he kept trying to remake it I imagine. Good thing he wasn't let loose on the classics you mentioned above; maybe he'd have had an android Red Grant fighting Bond on the Orient Express...
