Early Or Later Episodes?

Postby !Amz! » Wed Oct 10, 2007 6:43 pm

A hard question for some, easy for others. Which group of episodes did you prefer? Earlier or later?

Personally, for me, it was the early episodes, because the show went a little downhill after season five. Don't get me wrong, there were some classic episodes like Three Valentines, SBSB, Back Talk etc. and then there were loads of episodes from season eleven that I loved too, but for me, I really preferred the older ones.

Early episodes, definitely. Season 1-6 are the best for me.

I voted 'earlier' but I would have found it even easier to choose if it had been seasons 1-7, rather than 5. I love all the tension with the Niles unrequited love thing, so the earlier seasons definitely win. :)

Yup, it's easily the early years for me, too.

Early, easily - although for me 'early' is classed as seasons 1-6, not just 1-5! :)

Taking the show as a whole, it has to be the early episodes for me, even though my favourite episode is in Season 11.

Early, early, early, early all the way! Niles especially is much funnier.

Although i am growing to like S8 a bit more since buying the DVDs.

Early. The show lost steam as the years wore on - that's to be expected. The writing for the later shows was painfully dull and on the nose most of the time - it only worked (marginally) because the characters had been so well defined in the first seasons. What IS that about Niles learning how to shoot a gun and making friends with militia guys? (Not to mention the stereotype there.)

Considering seasons 8, 9 and 10 are my least favourites, I'd also have to say I prefer the early episodes. But I also like most S11 episodes a lot.
