What type of alcohol do you prefer to drink on a night out?

Postby Dorset Girl » Mon Apr 06, 2009 8:20 pm

Just wondered what everyone's preferred tipple is? Tell me if I've missed any categories!

Mine is usually cider, but sometimes I go all 'girly' and drink Archers and lemonade!

Double Jack Daniels and coke or lager depends on where I go and which lagers they serve. Although I am partial to a Cosmopolian or Long Island Iced Tea if we go on a girly night out

I was tee-total throughout the first two years at Uni. Saved a fortune. I've made up for it since though!

I don't drink that often now, what with being a responsible parent an' all. When I do drink, I inevitably make posts on here and send PMs that I regret the next day.

I was wondering because I know it's popular in the UK. Not too sure if people drink it in the US, but I don't think so.

It's popular if the stereotypes of upper class toffs apparently sitting around drinking it whilst sitting in their gardens on tartan rugs, eating strawberries, wearing straw hats and waiting to have a game of croquet are true. But in reality - I think even the upper classes are more likely to drink wine, spirits or beer!

Is it Ascot where drinking Pimms is a tradition? Something like that is resopnsible for the stereotype, anyway!

Or maybe I'm just too much of a country bumpkin to realise that the rest of the country is 'quaffing' it regularly?

Wow I didn't realise it was such a stereotype. When I think of stereotype, tea is the first thing that pops into my head, but not Pimms! I'm really not sure where drinking that is the tradition, but apparently it made me think it was popular all over the UK

On a night out I usually drink Radler, which is beer mixed with a soft drink like Sprite or 7Up. Sometimes we mix it with Coke, too. It's a little sweeter than just beer and I prefer that.

I like wine as well, but I hardly ever have it when I go out.

Like I said, maybe it's more popular than I'm aware of? In my head, it tends to be associated with summer events such as Wimbledon.

I only really drink wine when I got to restraunts, which is annoyingly infrequently
