Well, I feel a bit more festive this year, hearing Christmas music in Tesco probably helped and we have a nice tree. Plus I'm getting a PS3, which is the true spirit of the holidays, right?
I just hope my cat's mouth surgery goes OK tomorrow - nothing too major, but there's always a slight risk with anasthetic - or I'll be feeling decidedly less festive this Christmas.
Cake for Brains wrote:I'm getting mostly DVDs, but I don't really feel excited about any of them (no, not even Battlestar Galactica S2!) Talk about ungrateful.
Cake for Brains wrote:We've got the tree up. I've heard loads of Christmas music. Still nothing. Christmas Day for me will probably just involve walking the dogs, eating and drinking a lot, and watching the new Doctor Who.
Cake for Brains wrote:Aww... hope everything goes ok with your cat tomorrow. I'm sure it will.
S2 is worth getting excited about.
I'm not really doing anything big this year, just a few dinners with different parts of the family. It also feels less exciting for me now that I have a job, and haven't been waiting for loads of things all year.
Thanks. I'm probably just paranoid since my granny's cat went in for surgery a few years ago, and then died on Christmas day - but she was considerably worse, Rosie (my cat) only has rotten teeth. Whose dumbass idea was it to put sugar in cat food? Poor thing also has a limp at the moment, too.
Cake for Brains wrote:Hope so. Not more exciting than dog walking though, surely?
Cake for Brains wrote:See, you're as much of a Scrooge as me! I'm at Dad's for Christmas, which means I probably won't get to see Mum until after New Year, which isn't ideal. Christmas dinner should be good though.
Cake for Brains wrote:Oh dear. Hope she's alright. Let me know how it goes tomorrow.
You need to get one of those 'dog-walkers' they had on Dragon's Den the other day... you could do both at the same time! Although to be fair, the device is only meant for dogs recovering from injuries.
My parents are together so there's never been a problem of 'who gets who', thankfully. To be honest though, Christmas dinner just feels like a standard Sunday roast...
Oh great, you really have turned me into a scrooge!
Cake for Brains wrote:One of the dogs is bordering on obese, so maybe that counts as an injury? She needs all the exercise she can get.
Cake for Brains wrote:You don't get turkey and those sausages wrapped in bacon on a typical Sunday roast though! It's all good.
Cake for Brains wrote:You should avoid me at the moment. You'll just infected with the misery bug.
Any excuse not to walk the dog!
Never tried sausages wrapped in bacon, surprisingly. And we have turkey at other times of the year... it's probably my least favourite meat actually.
Aw, I'm sure you will feel a bit better on the big day. Presents and all that. You'll feel differently about them once you have them.
Cake for Brains wrote:I love walking the doors, even though I usually get filthy. There's a big wood and loads of fields where my Dad lives, so it's like a big muddy, boggy, swampy assault course.
Cake for Brains wrote:And you've not sausages wrapped in bacon... you've not lived!
Cake for Brains wrote:Time will tell. I won't get half of them on the big day, come to think of it. Aw, I'm even more depressed now...
Sounds like fun. Used to be a lot of that sort of thing where I used to live... a lovely canal too. It's all rather dull around here.
Make me some, then. I'll gladly let you put your meat in me.
OK, that was bad, even for me!
It's a shame parents can't put aside their differences and have a Christmas together, it would be nice for everyone involved. Do they not get along then?
Cake for Brains wrote:It's great at Dad's. He lives on a farm, in the middle of nowhere. Dogs, cats, horses, fields... lovely. Bit remote, but I quite like that - but that's because I'm an anti-social recluse or something.
Cake for Brains wrote:Hm, it was pretty bad. I'd still do it though. I'd happy put my sausage inside you.
Cake for Brains wrote:Sadly not. Although they're not as bad as they used to be. With Mum and Das both having children to different partners, getting together on Christmas Day could prove a bit problematic. Apparentally, my Dad's invited my ex-stepmother to Christmas dinner, which seems a bit odd. What's going on there, I wonder?
CatNamedRudy wrote:I hope all goes well with your kitty Paul. Are they pulling her teeth? Poor little thing.
CatNamedRudy wrote::cat: Rudy sends his best wishes to her!
Sounds rather nice - I like being in remote places. Seems like the perfect Christmas setting.
Sounds like a confusing family! Mine is relatively simple, although both my mum and dad's parents divorced.
Anyway I'm off to bed now (well, to watch DVDs technically) - nice chatting with you again. Goodnight!
