Taxi or Cheers

Postby Bee Gees Fan » Wed Jul 11, 2007 11:46 pm

These two shows often seem to be lumped together, although they're not entirely similar, and I've seen this poll done before.

I like Cheers a lot, but I vote for Taxi, because it's fantastic and wonderful, it's intelligent, and it has the great Jim Ignatowski, who is one of the greatest TV characters ever to be written.

Cheers for me. I like Taxi but not on the same level as Cheers.

There will never be another character like Jim, though...if you put aside his former drug use, he's a very good role model, as he's one of the kindest, most warm-hearted people ever.

Jim was a great character. No argument there. But Cheers for me was THE sitcom of the 80's. It helped me make it through college! Cheers and LA Law.

Do you think Carla would have got along with Louie? Of course (Danny De Vito and Rhea Perlman are married in real life.)

Carla, mean-spirited and nasty as she could be, didn't really have that really mean streak that Louie had, so I'm not sure if they would have got on or not.

Carla would have chewed Louie up and spit him out!

Who's the third person who voted for Cheers?

Great! You only marginally prefer it, though, don't you?

I like Taxi but voted for Cheers. Pathetic but I feel that they're an extended family in that bar. Besides, it's fine fun and with the legend that is Mayday Malone. :D

There are a lot of people who haven't seen enough of it. If I ever become famous, I'll tell my millions of fans to watch it.

Taxi's entertaining enough, but Cheers is just great and as has already been said, the sitcom that ruled the 80s.
Goodnight Seattle, we love ya!!!

I've never seen Taxi, and I know I probably shouldn't vote, but I went with Cheers. It's a hilarious sitcom and it spawned a certain little spin-off I'm sure you all enjoy.

It's on Paramount right now. :)

If you like old American comedies like Cheers, you might like Taxi as well.

You nailed it, CatNamedRudy. I like to say that Cheers, for me, is like a warm blanket on a cold winter night.
What fresh hell is this?
