Favourite HBO Series Opening Credits

Thanks to Cakey for giving me the idea!

At the moment I'm leaning towards OZ, it screams badass, and brilliantly introduces the show. I also love The Wire, The Sopranos and Big Love.

This poll will run for 14 days.

The themes for Carnivàle and Six Feet Under are both excellent and set up the tones of their respective shows well, however I'm leaning towards the latter purely for musical reasons. It is a wonderful piece of music composed by Thomas Newman, the highly talented man responsible for the excellent Finding Nemo and Shawshank Redemption scores.

Curb for music alone, but for credits overall, Six Feet Under.

Great thread and a tough decision! I really don't like the theme from Entourage, but all the rest I've heard have been fantastic.

Sopranos is great, but it's a toss up between Curb and Six Feet Under. I went with the latter because it looks beautiful as well as sounding great.

I've never seen Oz, but was tempted by the first season on DVD at the weekend.

I've gone with Curb, purely because i love the theme tune.

Band of Brothers. Best thing ever to have been on telly in the history of the little black box for me, and the credits are fantastic. The music is beautiful, the montage excellent at conveying some of the emotions and themes of the characters, and overall just a very respectful piece of art which serves as a wonderful opening to this excellent series.

I was expecting it to be ALOT higher on that top fifty list. Same with Roots, and Das Boot, which should have been number one.

I vote for The Sopranos, although I admit to only having seen three of the list. Can't see anything other than The Sopranos opening credits impressing me though.

You'd be suprised. HBO is the king of excellent opening credits. All of them rock.

Six Feet Under for me.

I like the opening for Sex and the City but I hate what Carrie is wearing so it mars it for me! Sarah Jessica Parker has terrible taste in clothes! (she really dresses like that)

The adverts for her perfume make me cringe, too. She really hasn't aged well enough to cope with those close-ups. Sorry SJP.

Six Feet Under, obviously. Although The Sopranos one is bloody good as well.

Curb! But I've hardly seen any of the other shows so it's a bit of an uninformed vote from me I'm afraid.
