I have to say that TNG crew cannot be beaten. I love P. Stewart as Jean Luc Picard (incidently Im going to see one of his shakespeare plays at the National theatre) and I simply think that TNG cannot be beaten.

The Plot
The effects
The characters
The science

Great :!:

Out of the few episodes I've seen of each, Deep Space Nine is my favourite. It's a lot darker and seems more adult than the others, which I prefer. I loathed Enterprise and wasn't particularly impressed with The Next Generation.

Thay may have something to do with the creative force, Ronald D. Moore, creator of Carnivale and Battlestar Galactica.

Simply, nobody could deprive TNG of being the best season!

 Plots are the best
 Actors and Characters are fantastic
 Directing was also good

I will concede that it does look slightly dated, set wise.

Yeah, possibly at the beggining, but this improves as the series progresses. (Thats funny I have the same criticism for Cheers)

Some the early special effects were worthy of an episode of Doctor Who.

Oh yes.

Strictly speaking though (and I know many think otherwise given the popularity of the Dr who thread) I absoloutely and utterly hate Doctor who. Its utterly boring and a pithy excuse for british sci-fi.

I only like new Who. Old Who is crap, episodes are WAY to long, special effects abysmal, acting sub-par.

DS9 just got my vote ahead of TNG. I think both needed the first few seasons to get going but I preferred DS9 as it was a bit darker and due to the Dominion War. Having said that I am now thinking of all the quality TNG episodes that I like :?

One of my favourite things in TNG was when the enterprise would always get into conflicts with the Romulans in the borders etc, and then Picard would decide what to do to avoid a diplomatic incident. Rivetting stuff.

I've not seen nearly as much DS9 as I'd like. One day, I'll check it out.

Wow Strat, I've just seen your DVD collection.

I noticed you have Amadeus, what did you think of that?

I guess that I too can be in the "Not seen enough of DS9" club.

To quote from my DVD aficionado account... ''A masterful epic.'' 5 Stars. Tom Hulce and F. Murray Abraham were superb.

I need to see alot of Voyager and Enterprise and some of TOS to have seen them all. I own all the DS9 boxsets and seasons 6 & 7 of TNG boxsets. Have seen alot of TNG on BBC though.

I really liked TOD, due to the fact that it was so ground breaking, and considering it was the 1960's the special effects were pretty good. The actors seemed to have more fun playing thier characters as well.

You mean TOS. In any case, yes it was groundbreaking and the special effects were funny though.

Anyone catch The William Shatner Roast last night on Five US? Man, that was a disappointment! In 90 minutes there were only a couple of funny jokes. The rest of it seemed to be making racist jokes out of Nichelle Nichols and George Takei, or repeating the same gay jokes about George Takei, or generally mocking all the performers' pathetic careers. Really, really bad! It saddens me that William Shatner has allowed himself to become such a joke, while Patrick Stewart seems to carry himself with some dignity and self-respect. Not to say he can't enjoy himself or have a laugh though, as Robin Hood: Men in Tights and various interviews will prove.

One of the only times I liked William Shatner was when he made an appearence as the murderer in Columbo. - Columbo is great - and so was Shatner is that episode. :)

There has been alot of Voyager on whilst I've been in Canada and I have to say I've seen some very good episodes. They are from the latter seasons, so as with all Star Trek series I'm sure they are much better than earlier seasons, but I've still been very impressed. I think if I can find the boxsets on sale for less than £50 I might have to invest...
