Is 'Frasier' your favourite sitcom?

Postby Dorset Girl » Thu Jul 26, 2007 7:38 pm

I know this is a weird question to ask on a 'Frasier' forum, but although I love the program, it's not my absolute all-time no. 1 sitcom. I was wondering if I was alone in this (I probably am!), or if you're all here because Frasier is the best thing you've ever seen on TV?

(Oh, and Cat - I mean 'Frasier' with quotation marks, not Frasier a.k.a Kelsey! )

It is my favorite sitcom although there are a few that come very close to it! With the zillions of sitcoms on the air over my lifetime though, that list is relatively short!

WKRP In Cincinnati
The Mary Tyler Moore Show
Rhoda
The Bob Newhart Show
The Dick Van Dyke Show
Cheers
Sports Night
News Radio
M*A*S*H

 That makes you sound really old, and I'm sure that's not the case!

M*A*S*H comes second on my list - watching it at the moment actually.

I'm pretty sure I'm the oldest person posting here! I'm not ancient but I have been around a while! :)

I've been parked in front of TV since I was but a little tyke and trust me, there have been zillions of sitcoms! I'm including of course, those that I watched in reruns and don't really remember in "first run" time! Dick Van Dyke is one example of that!

All the others I mentioned though I watched when they were first run.

If you think about it, networks put out numerous sitcoms in the fall and then midseason replacements and then summer replacements! That's A LOT of sitcoms!

Have you mentioned your favourite before, I can't remember? Is it British?

Are we counting "The Simpsons" as a sitcom here?

If so, Frasier isn't my favourite; if we're not, Frasier is my favourite

Close-runners include Malcolm In The Middle, King of the Hill, Futurama, Scrubs, Seinfeld, Friends, Cheers, Curb You Enthusiasm, Arrested Development, Fresh Prince..

Yes, I'd say "The Simpsons" is a sitcom - it's a 'situation comedy', the only difference being that it's animated.

Yes. As it battles for top spot with Auf Wiedersehen, Pet as my favourite programme of all-time, that makes it my favourite sitcom of all-time, too.

Yep, Frasier is my favourite show of anything ever. I do love classic Britcoms like Only Fools and Horses, Fawlty Towers and Blackadder too, but the sheer volume of high quality episodes (particularly in the first 5 seasons) puts this show head and shoulders over anything else IMHO.

What's your fav show then DG (apologies if you've said already).

Unless it's something like "She's the Sheriff" or "Carter Country" I won't yell at you!

And if you've never heard of those two wonderful US sitcoms, consider yourself extremely lucky!

Well done, Paul! :)

Yes, Frasier is my favourite, but other shows I like come very close.

I wasn't sure if Frasier was my top sitcom, but it is the only sitcom I buy the DVDs for and watch again and again so it must be my favourite.
I'm voting yes.

My favourite is "The Fall and Rise (Rise and Fall) of Reginald Perrin, my second favourite is indeed M*A*S*H. Frasier would come third, then Porridge. :)
