On the old forum if you hover the mouse over the "Img" or "URL" boxes underneath it would show what a person has to do to if they wanted to embed an image or put text in a URL, which I liked because I'm a bit hopeless with computers/forums.

Anyway on the new forum you can still hover the mouse over the buttons, but it disappears after a couple of seconds. I don't know if anything can be done to increase the time before it disappears or have a system like the old forum.
Regardless, it's a trivial matter so don't look it too much.

New forum looks great! Particularly like the 'online' banner that goes over a user's name when scrolling through the forum.

I just discovered that little issue myself. And part of it stems from the fact that the URL button automatically puts the opening and closing brackets there and you have to put the stuff in between them. It's confusing to me. I'm old. I have a hard time adapting!

What exactly is the motive of the friends/foes option? Is it like a Facebook thing with adding friends? I'm confused as to the point of it, I guess.

The 'Friends' option I'm not entirely sure of, but I know the 'Foes' option will allow you to ignore the posts of any individual you wish (i.e. they will just appear blank to you on the forum). I expect this will block PMs from that person as well, a facility which is also available separately.

I've just added a certain person (who shall remane nameless!) to my 'foes' list and it does exactly what I said above. You can still read that person's posts if someone else has quoted them, however.

I've also added a couple of 'friends' and apart from making them more easily accessible via PM by adding them to a list on the left hand side of your inbox I can't see what benefit it has in all honesty.

Looks like you'll still be reading my posts then, because as we all know, I'm pretty quotable. :D

Ooh, two new things I like - I logged in earlier, then had to log back out due to an Easter egg hunt and lots of excitable children passing through. I'd only had time to read my PMs, but when I logged back in again, the posts I hadn't read on the board were still orange. That didn't happen before. Excellent.

Also, if a thread has had lots of new posts and flipped over to a new page, I don't always notice, and stop reading at the bottom of the first page. But now the thread remains marked 'unread' until you've viewed all new pages. Me likey.

Interesting - never seen bots listed as online before:

It must be something to do with phpbb (or whatever the hell it's called!), rather than Frasier Online itself. Either that or Google are checking up on us!

Also, and I just have to say this: there's my name! Woop! :D

Well, I suppose Google's trawling the web all the time, so it's not so surprising it should come up. I've just never seen it listed onscreen before!

Yeah, there's identification of a lot of the search bots trawling websites built into phpBB3 which now allows them to be managed (allowed, banned, etc) from within the software rather than other means.

I guess they would have come under guest visitors before now

Okay then...thanks for clearing that up. :)

I'd try the Friend/Foe thing...I'm liable to set-off a destruct sequence if I do, I fear.

Stu, sorry to be a pain in the arse, but is there an easy way for you to change the default font for signatures? Maybe making it a bit smaller, or a slightly lighter colour? I keep reading the sig lines as part of the post. It's all right when they're in italics but if they're not, my tiny brain gets confused. It's probably just me though.

I just noticed it tells you the exact time you joined. I had no idea 1.22am was mine...do I ever sleep?

I remember sending an email and Stu activating my account, so I'm assuming my 'join time' is whenever the activation bit happened?

I think that when you register, your account is registered immediately, and the timestamp is the point at which you registered, regardless of whether activation is immediate or weeks later. Not sure though.

I keep discovering new things. I've just found out that you can add folders to store PMs, and automatically direct particular PMs to the folders, like you can with many email programs. Cool!

I was going to toy with the friend/foe thing. It might mess how I view the forum, I'm still adjusting to how this looks. :)

Yes, I'm completely used to the new forum now. Looks good!
The only thing is that it's very slow. Am I the only one who experiences that?

I haven't noticed any difference in the speed of the board. Fast loading for me.

Yeah, me too: in fact FO is one of the fastest sites to load, I've found.
