PM limit

Postby Wezzo » Mon Dec 18, 2006 11:06 pm

Is there any way you could increase the maximum # of PMs we can store Stu? I like to keep all my old messages, but I'm running out of space, and short of copying and pasting them all into Notepad, which would be very laborious, I can't see a way around it.

Sorry if it comes across as if I'm too lazy to manually save them; I just wonder if it'd be simpler for you to play about with a setting or two. I may be way out of line here, though.

Cheers in advance.

Hi Wezzo

Yes, increasing the maximum number of PM's is certainly an option.

Just wanted to highlight the current limits:

Inbox - 50 messages
Sentbox - 25 messages
Savebox - 50 messages.

To move messages to the save box, mark them in the inbox and click the 'Save selected' button at the bottom of the page.

If I was going to increase it the maximum number, did anyone have any thoughts (without going mad :D ) about what it should be.

I know DigitalSpy, for example, allows a combined total of 250 messages I think - anyone got any other limits they know from other forums?

You're allowed loads on Sitcoms Online...isn't the limit something like 50,000?

Most forums I know allow 50 or 100. Sitcoms Online are pretty close to unlimited, last I checked.

Realistically, perhaps you could change the savebox to 100, say?

How about increasing it to 100 per 'box'? I've had to delete some old stuff too and like Wezzo, I'd prefer to have a bigger limit.

How would it affect your database if the limits were upped? I know we have around 650 members but only a small percentage are actually 'active'. If it's possible, I'd like the limit to be even higher...

I suppose that's because Sitcoms Online is such a massive, thriving website. It's the biggest one I've ever been to.

Yeah me too if its not too much trouble.

Alternatively though, is it possible to set up an option, to see ALL of the PMs at once, so that we can easily paste them in to word?

Thanks for everyone's thoughts and opinions on this.

After some consideration, I've increased the limits on PM's to:

Inbox - 100 messages
Sentbox - 100 messages
Savebox - 100 messages.

as of today.

I'm also looking into Frasier's suggestion of an export - I think this will be possible. I should find time to implement this over the Christmas break.

Although I'm bored tonight, I don't particularly want a virus infestation, Cialis pills for my erectile dysfunction or 'genuine fake Rolexes', and I'm perfectly happy with the size of my penis already, thank you very much!
