Wasn't there a female Olympic athlete several years ago with a name that was actually two or three words put together? She said her parents were hippies and raised in a commune for a while and didn't even give her the name until she was five years old. It was some sort of silly name, but I can't what it was.

Apologies if anyone's already mentioned this - but I think there are some countries where parents are required to choose from a pool of approved names. I seem to remember there being something in the news about an Italian couple who had named their daughter 'Tuesday' or something similar, but the courts ordered them to change it.

We have this in Denmark actually, but still, it does contain some questionable names. An example is Skat which means Dear or Honey. That is approved as a boys name. :)

I know a couple who gave the names Starsky and Hutch from that old American series from the 70's...

...fortunately it was their two dogs that they named that way.

This stuff came up again in a discussion yesterday and a friend mentioned the Naming Law in Sweden while telling me to google the word Brfxxccxxmnpcccclllmmnprxvclmnckssqlbb11116 for a related tale.

I like the reference to 'Pataphysics. :D

There is a Beatles' song where they talk about 'Pataphysics but I don't remember which one.

:D Good pop reference. Maxwell's Silver Hammer from the Abbey Road album:
