Heath Ledger in The Dark Knight - he was a great actor, he was good as the Joker, but not that good.

Bacon - it's all over the Internet, it's become a meme, and I just hate it.

Hamburger + fries - I could never understand why people eat those two things together. Can't imagine eating bread with potatoes.

Paris - I liked it well enough, but I'd never go as far as calling it "the city of love/light" or "the greatest city in the world", as many people do. I was actually a little disappointed when I first saw it as it is hugely overhyped.

Twilight/Stephanie Whatsherface - no comment necessary.

(Sorry to go off topic, but someone mentioned Kirsten Stewart, which made me remember that I was browsing very old threads and seemed to come across her profile on the forum. Was she really a member? She seemed unhinged  )

....

Well, initially a hamburger was not supposed to be a sandwich, it was the patty of ground meat alone that was called this way. The sandwich is meant to allow a person to eat the meat without a plate nor silverware and without getting meat gravy all over their hands. The aberration that made people eat a meat sandwich and French fries together came I think from the concept of a restaurant where everything on the menu can be taken outside and be eaten on a public bench. But if you want something that's really delicious with French fries, try the mussels a la bruxelloise (Brussels style) (cooked in white wine). Of course you shouldn't eat French fries more than once a week unless you don't mind clogging your arteries with cholesterol.

Thanks for the suggestion! As luck would have it, I'm actually in Belgium right now, so I could have the authentic mussels, but alas, I'm also a vegetarian :P (though my hatred of bacon started long before I became one).

Bacon is the most wonderful food on the planet. There is nothing overrated about it! :D

 I thought Jack did a better job myself.

Heath certainly made the character darker, but I don't think his performance would have been so hyped up if he had lived.

Even without the internet obsession, bacon is a world beater :D

You need to be introduced to the "chip buttie".
Your life, and wasistline, will never be the same again
Napoleon famously said "Give me enough medals, and I'll win any war." I say that with enough bacon and chip butties the world wouldn't even put up a fight

Do you know what defeated Napoleon? Lead paint. Specialists have discovered that he exhibited all the symptoms of lead poisoning. If not, he might have gotten out of St Helena the way he did before with Elba and started over, he had enough friends left to pull that one off.

Plus everyone would die by the time they're fifty. They wouldn't have to worry about paying retirement, anymore. This could save the economy. :D

 There was in fact a ship dispatched by Lord Thomas Cochrane (leader of the Chilean rebel navy and all round ass kicker)to bring Napoleon to Chile, but Napoleon was dead by the time the ship arrived.

As for what killed him, there have been theories that range from from being murdered by the head of his household (who just happened to own a book on how to poison someone with arsnic) to the paint of the house giving off a arsnic baised gas when it was damp.

As for what put him on that rock, it was a combination of Wellington, Bleucher, the rain the night before the battle that robbed his artillery of a lot of it's effectiveness, and Marshal Ney squandering the French cavalry on pointless charges against a strong force formed up in solid squares.

Now that you mention it, it was arsenic not lead poisoning that I heard. I think I said lead because that's how the Roman empire ended in a shambles. You see, it was all Lucullus' fault, he was that famous Roman chef. He recommended to cook his food in lead containers. Fortunately for the middle class lead was very expensive and they couldn't afford it but the richer you got the most likely you were to ingest a certain dose of lead every day. And who was richer than the Emperor and his closest advisers? I not or Lucullus, the Empire might have endured a few more centuries.

Thanks for clearing that up! :)
I guess every forum has its... special members, it was fun reading her posts, though I'm pretty glad I wasn't around at the time :P.

Ah, you would have loved it really - like a cat amusing itself playing with a ball of wool. :D

Speaking of overrated in general there is a funny expression that I heard once: "It was like a who's who of who cares."

I wonder who came up with that one.
