I'm not a fan of Red Bull (I think it tastes like cough medicine) but those ads are funny.

I have learnt that some people can be unbelievably insensitive! Some bloke said the following line to my blind friend whilst she was travelling on a bus today:

Oh my God, you are quite good looking for a blind person. Do you want to feel my face?

 There are so many things wrong with that sentence that I don't know where to start!

EDIT: Actually, I already knew people could be unbelievably insensitive, so technically this is on the wrong thread...

That's incredibly insensitive. :?

Whilst discussing efficiency today I learned that during the thirties the British Railways Board painted one of it's fleet with a blue funnel without telling the driver and guard why. They never revealed the true purpose of the exercise, or why that particular engine was singled out, but they did record a one percent increase in efficiency.

Used to seeing foxes around the place these days, caught sight of a pair of probable males having a turf war on the rugby field last night. I've never heard such a sick noise before. A mix of high-pitched screaming and growling that drowns out everything else. Weird.

I've never heard foxes fighting, but badgers make a similar noise, I think. I remember a very surreal incident from my childhood... at 3am one morning, a badger got caught in a wicker chair in our garden. My dad went out, wearing only pyjamas, to try and free it - there followed a tug of war, which the badger won! It ran off, chair still attached, then got stuck in the fence. Tug of war no. 2 - this time the fence won and kept the chair.

One thing about cats I've learned over the years is that you can live two lifetimes and still hear a really scary fucking noise from two of them fighting that you've never before heard in your life.

Funny you should say that... I would be getting divorced anyway, whether or not Facebook existed. However, it was through Facebook that I learned of my husband having gone straight into a relationship with someone else when he left - the person that he flatly denied having any interest in!

Me too!

Why is the (non-meat) stuff in them called 'mincemeat', whereas minced beef is just referred to as 'mince'?

I love sweet mince pies.

I think there was originally minced meat mixed with fruits and spices and other stuff in the original pies.

These are all based on medieval pies and puddings. Spices and sugars mixed to achieve the desired effect according to budget. I have to admit the pies with custard in are a bit too far down the sweet line for me, but a good quality mincemeat filling has a good balance of sugar and spice. :D

I love the ones with a thin pastry crust. Thick pastry is too cloggy - I tend to avoid those.

When someone says they are feeling a bit off colour, do not attempt a tongue sandwich with them even if it is New Year. What a stupid thing to do.
