First Dates

What is the funniest/most embarrasing/most romantic etc thing that has happened on your first date with someone. My most embarrassing was on my first date with Harland, my boss saw us when he was walking me to the bus stop and asked me who was the guy I was kissing, in front of the entire department and a few customers

I dated a girl who left me at her mums house when her ex turned up.
I slept with her mum two days later.

Oh my.

I've never had a lot of first dates. It's usually just a weird sex/weird relationship kind of thing, although there was a nice one with a girl I was dating who lived in New Mexico. I was there for a couple of weeks and took her to a nice pizza place.

I actually haven't really had many dates at all. The couple of "first dates" I've had weren't really unusual. Sorry, no good stories here.
This is the STUPIDEST day I've ever had!

I've only ever been on a couple of 'dates', both with a guy called Mark. He was quite a bit older than me, and was a classically 'good looking' bloke. I was really surprised when he asked me out, he must be a 'chubby chaser'.

Anyway - I expected him to be super-confident, but he was just the opposite. He must have really liked me, because we were standing in the garden of a pub overlooking the sea (romantic!) and he reached out to hold my hand. He was shaking with nerves, and somehow knowing that he was nervous settled my nerves, and I kissed him. A bit later in the evening, he told me how nervous he'd been when he held my hand (I didn't let on that I'd noticed ) and aw, he was just a really sweet guy!

If I'd stayed with him, I'd have been rich - he's a top London Banker now, but I've been in touch with him recently and he's not too happy with life at the moment. Just shows that money can't buy happiness.

First 'date' as such with BF (namely, the first time we spent time together without our friends to disguise the awkwardness ) he came to my house and we awkwardly sat watching Ant and Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway in my room till my Mum went out, then we went downstairs to watch a movie on the bigger TV. Unfortunately, the movie we'd both decided on earlier that day was Zac and Miri Make A Porno - mainly because we both thought it'd be funny and it had Seth Rogen from Knocked Up and Elizabeth Banks from Scrubs in. I also saw that the rating was just a 15, so I thought how bad could it be?

Answer: very bad. He'd downloaded it and somehow I think he'd managed to get some sort of uncut version, and because we'd been going out for less than a fortnight it was so awkward I couldn't bear watching most of the ahem...filming scenes, so fast forwarded them, which made it a lot worse as everything was in double time

Luckily afterwards we ended up watching some nice, friendly Michael McIntyre and things ended on a high :) We watched Zac and Miri again after we'd been together for over a year and I don't remember it being as bad as what we saw so I'm pretty sure we watched an uncut version that first time!

Oh dear Amz, possibly not the best film to watch on a first date. Glad it ended well for you though.

Agreed  I was weary at first but didn't know it'd be as bad as it was, still gives us a laugh looking back on it though.

I've had a first date since I made my initial post on this thread. I'd pictured the day as being perfect, but as you know, things don't usually work out that way. However, for once in my life, this one really did! The weather was perfect, for starters. We met in Bath, a city I've been to a few times but am not overly familiar with. I met the guy online, and hadn't seen him in person before, but as soon as I saw him on the station platform, I knew I'd imagined him just right! :love4:

We walked hand-in-hand through the city, stopped for a drink and then went to see Toy Story 3. Bless him, I'd mentioned that I wanted to see it but hadn't had the chance. I can't imagine it would have been top of the list of films a bloke would choose! In the cinema, we had our first kiss - it was very natural and felt just right. Then afterwards, we decided to see the Royal Crescent. I'd only been there once, several years earlier, and hadn't walked from the spot we were in. Somehow I sensed the direction it was in, and we managed to walk straight there! We sat on the grass in front of it, just cuddling and talking. Then my mum phoned to say that Rob had brought Keren home early, and Keren was in tears as it had all gone a bit wrong. I thought it would ruin the mood of our date, but it didn't. He was very understanding.

We walked back to the station all too soon, having spent several hours together. On the one hand, it seemed like it had gone by at lightspeed. On the other hand I can remember every moment from that day and it seemed to last forever! Weird. Anyway - he kissed me goodbye, and I went to catch my train home, not knowing if I'd see him again but hoping very much that I would.

Every time that I go through Bath station now (at least a couple of times a month), I think back to that perfect date in August. I've seen him a couple of times since, but he lives a long way away and has kids. Knowing how Keren's been affected by her Daddy moving away, I couldn't live with myself if he moved away from his, and I know I'd be miserable if I moved away from Dorset again. So in the long term, it can't work, but at least I have those special times together to remember.

In three days time, he's making the long trip down here for the first time, especially to see me. Am I being too hopeful to think that the weather will be good and we'll have another perfect day? My favourite man and my favourite place - I reckon I'll be in heaven!!

I am hoping to have an important first date in the next few months. I don't care if it's perfect or not, just looking forward to spending time with them.
