What has made you smile today?

Postby Dorset Girl » Thu Nov 20, 2008 8:56 pm

Okay, so we have a 'Rant' thread that's reached a hundred pages. Let's see whether we're optimists or pessimists - will this thread do as well?

The thing that's made me smile the most today is that my colleague and good friend Siân had a baby girl yesterday. She had a miscarriage at about the same time I did, and was thrilled when she found she was pregnant this time. So I'm thrilled for her, and wish I could see the baby!

Yayyyy for DG's friend! That made me smile too!

I'm generally a pretty upbeat and smiley person but today I just had a good laughing moment. My co-worker and I were driving to pick somebody up at a treatment facility and we were talking about South Park which led me to talk about Team America: World Police.

I was telling her that yesterday I was eating lunch in our lunchroom and I was all alone and the song that Kim Jong Il sings in that movie kept running through my head "Lonely....I'm so lonely" and I was sitting there all alone with this stupid smirk on my face. So then I was telling her about my nephew, his girlfriend and myself singing that song and just laughing hysterically a month or so ago when we were up north. It made me laugh talking about it again.
This is the STUPIDEST day I've ever had!

Great stories DG, Woggle, and Cat!

My co-workers are absolutely crazy so I'm always laughing at them. One is a fan of Monty Python and he told me yesterday, 'I fart in your general direction.'

Almost peed laughing.

That would make me smile too! Though sometimes it makes me cry! The last episode that made me cry was Posse Comitatus but I'm sure there's another tear jerker on the horizon!

I know exactly what you mean. I've never watched a show that has me smiling from ear to ear and then 10 seconds or less later has me welling up. Apart from today I've been a little slow watching the episodes, I'm nowhere near where you and BS are, I'm going to have to prepare myself for Two Cathedrals very soon. :)

That reminds me....

I smiled and laughed hysterically once again while watching The Dish Ran Away With the Spoon Part 2:

Niles: The only thing more hollow than your protest of innocence is your big fat head!
Frasier: I AM WOUNDED!

To quote from Snatch, "get your tongue out of my arse, dogs do that!" Just joshin' ya. :D

Same as Cat, I'm generally quite jokey and cheery in 'real life', but what DID make me laugh out loud today was while walking through Belfast, a pigeon fluttered up infront of a girl who obviously has a fear of pigeons, and as a result she dropped her slice of pizza in shock, which the pigeon quickly lifted and fluttered off again! First time I've seen a person mugged by a bird!

You know, I'm trying to think if I did smile today.

I'm honestly not sure.
