It is indeed sad but maybe like cycling, the British will enjoy a regeneration in the next few years.

It does sound like a disease but I think it's a pretty cool name too.

How good a player was he? I got the impression that he was very good but he never cracked the "top spot", should I say. I don't think he ever won Wimbledon; did he win any Grand Slams?

I don't know. I have never really paid that much attention tennis.

He won an Aussie Open in the late 70s. Lost a couple of finals in the US and French. Never made the Wimbledon final.

Venus Williams beat one of our girls, Cadavay who gave as good as she got at times. Williams plays one of others, the no.1 in fact, Keothavong (seriously, she's British) in round two.

Interestingly, Wozniacki of Denmark plays Wozniack of Canada in round 2...both names always remind me of the planet that Noel wanted to name after Roz in Frasier.

I love the Internet. I can keep up with the matches online. Richard Gasquet just won and Nadal's match has just started.

Nadal won despite some hard play by Beck. Straight sets.

Murray's kicked off...1-1 in first set, Adv. Murray.

Damn, Donald Young is losing at the moment. They're in the fourth set, Young won the first but Levine has won the second and third.

Come on Donald!

Is anyone else hoping for Young to progress?

Not sure who i'd like to see win the Men's. Be nice to see a change from Federer, but i'm not a massive Nadal fan. Two other top ten players competing in the final would be good, i think.

I believe it's...Murray Mound.

4-4 in the fourth set of Young's match...if Young can win this he'll still be in the game.

5-4 to Levine in the Levine-Young match. If Levine wins this next set he'll have won the match.

Come on Donald!

Ah well, Young lost. I was hoping he might be able to scrape a win.

My imagination, but Henman and McEnroe keep winding each other up...

Anyhoo...no sight of Murray Mound yet. Short and to the point.

:D A fan of that hairy chest were you ;)

He was my favourite player. Breath of fresh air - and one of the few to win all the grand slams - so that shut up the people who complained about him being style over substance.

Actually, it was the long hair. :D

He was a rebel and a damn fine tennis player as well!

I've never been a huge tennis fan but Andre was fun to watch. And it was nice to see someone who didn't go all crazy and act like an ass when things didn't go his way. (Do you hear me John McEnroe?)

I was lucky enough to watch Agassi play on Centre Court at Wimbledon either the first or second time I went (during his 'long hair' phase!!) He was completely fantastic to watch.

Well, it's still concise...rememberable...memorable even.

Still, if that's a field then my back garden's a royal park.

Yeah I just heard them say that. That sounds a bit pathetic and unoriginal IMHO. :?

It took a little past 2hrs but Murray wins in straight sets...hard fought, some silly errors but made it. Santoro fought just as hard.

Another British lady out. Katie O'Brien. Our qualifier, Chris Eaton is still playing as I write.

Watched the good win by Murray over a tricky little opponent Santoro even saw Andy crack a wry smile in the third set tie break when his shot trickled over as the ball grazed the net [ which was nice to see ]........ the boy done well Malisse next will be a harder test.

Malisse will be tough. That's Thursday and so far no rain so it should be on around the early afternoon depending on order of play.

Got to check to see whether Eaton and Baker have won.

Well, Baker's out...but young Eaton is 2 sets up and hopefully well on his way to a third and ultimate victory.

Come on, my son!
