Family Guy

Postby Nervosa » Sat Mar 01, 2008 1:04 pm

Any fans here?

It's the only thing on TV that makes me actually laugh out loud. I own the Freakin' Party Pack which has the six seasons in it, and also came with beer holders, coasters, poker chips and a deck of cards.

I think it's a bloody good show! And a single episode takes a year to put together, as it's 100% hand drawn in every scene, so that's also impressive and adds to the enjoyment for me.

I like it. It's quite funny, but sometimes it's a bit too much for me and I find it gets old a bit quickly. I haven't bought it on DVD, and I'd quite like to, but I can live with mooching off friends when it comes to this show to be honest.

In my opinion the only flaw of the show is that a lot of the frequent American culture references go completely over the head of anyone not from the States.

I like it, its funny and a bit silly without going OTT (South Park).

I love it, it's got a bit of a bad rap since its comeback but I'm still a fan.

I can watch it but don't think it's a great show. I wouldn't say it's any more clever, or less self-indulgent, than modern Simpsons.

You could apply that use of American reference thing to pretty much any US show that relies on associative commentary.

I'd take The Simpsons, King Of The Hill, Futurama and probably South Park over it. I do prefer it to American Dad though.

I was pretty funny in Family Guy when they kind of let American viewers to see what it's like for everyone else when Peter says something along the lines of 'Now I know how Benjamin Disraeli felt' and there's a cut to Disraeli writing at a desk and he looks at the camera and says 'You don't even know who I am'

 It's pretty funny stuff.
It's amazing the stuff they dare put in the program sometimes
Two things against it though...............

1. Peter's laugh (and when he cries) two very annoying noises.

2. They have a tendancy to let a gag run on too long on occassion.

On the whole though a pretty good watch.

On a side note, Joanne reminds me of young Lois (when Peter goes back in time) grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr :D
