Just seen a News report about technology in Britain, which had some figures that surprised me. Apparently, the UK is ahead of everywhere else when it comes to
digital TV take-up. By last year, 76% of homes had digital TV, now the figure is even higher. In the US, it's 61% and in Germany it's 24%.
I wonder if this is because our analogue signal is being switched off in a year or two? Is this happening in other countries, or is our take-up of digital so high because we have no choice?
Other figures in the report:
Mobile phone connections
UK: 115 for every 100 people
Italy 139 for every hundred
US - 78 for every hundred.
Broadband
UK 52%
US 51% of homes have Broadband
... but ours is slower, apparently!
Use of Social Networking sites such as Facebook and MySpace - UK 39%, Canada 53%, Germany 12%
Sorry, this has probably bored you all rigid, but the 'girl-geek' in me found it interesting.
