Ah right, I just understood this now after reading the footy thread. No, i scheduled my snooker and curry night for this Wednesday - the same night England play! I claimed to not give a shit after they lost to Russia but now I'm regretting my petulance!

0.39448% - Poser

I swear to Christ I answered truthfully to all of those questions, believe it or believe it not. The only two boxes I ticked were about reading TTK Tolkin (Lord of the Rings bloke) and owning binoculars.

That's the honest truth. I didn't even know what the fuck most of those questions meant!!

Although I am far from being a poser; who are people I cannot stomach in life.

EDIT: If I were to take the test again, I would also have ticked 'learn alone' as I do learn music by myself for the enjoyment of playing. But I doubt that would make a difference to my score. :?

This just made me laugh:

From Ken Levine's blog today. He's doing quickie Holiday Release Movie Reviews.

SWEENEY TODD – Tim Burton turns everything into SWEENEY TODD so this should be a natural. And it has Johnny Depp and Sondheim’s bulletproof score so how bad can it be? Also stars Helena Bonham Carter as the director’s wife who always gets a part.

Thanks..... i think? :D

I checked 138 boxes - which didn't seem like many considering i wasn't going to bother when i saw how long it was.

I had hardly ticked any until the books, films and web related stuff reared its ugly head - that killed me

So how many people who took the test ticked that they knew the rule of the odd / even Star Trek movies?! That was one of the few I ticked. :D

I did!

It was the Trek and the Sci Fi movie stuff that put me in the Geek category. I don't know diddly squat about computers but I've seen Blade Runner numerous times!

Perhaps that's why I like Momma Mia so much! There's a Blade Runner reference in it!

Frasier: "Like her" would have been fine, Dad. We're not talking about a similar hairdo or the same crooked smile. I was dating a replicant.

Hmmm, I wonder how many more film references there are like that, that go unnoticed by people who haven't seen whichever film it happens to come from? I imagine there are quite a few, especially as some of the episode titles are word play on film names.

Thank you, but around here it doesn't count for much! There were two other people in my year at school who were also related to them. :)

I'm sure there are several more but that's only one that comes to my mind immediately!

I'll put it here rather than the diary thread. Friend of mine wants me to go for a drink or two "get pissed" in her vocab, after lecture tomorrow. Well, she promised to get me on the train. All very well and dandy, but what if I get off at Chorleywood!?

If a drink or two gets you pissed then you are one hell of a cheap date Mayday!

Though I say, join her for a couple. Sounds like a nice way to spend some time after class.

We'll see how it goes. She wants us to get 'lashed' as it might be. And it's more than 2 before I go under. Usually. :)

Ok, here's my Dilemma De Jour!

I have made the decision to join a health club because I need a kick in the ass to make me work out and lose some of the weight that I've put on in the last couple of years. Getting tired of my clothes not fitting and I don't want to buy bigger clothes!

There is a fairly nice facility a mile or so from my office. It opens at 5:30AM and they do offer at least one cycling class a week that goes from 5:45 to 6:15AM. (this would give me enough time to do the class, shower and make it work by 7:00AM).

The biggest downfall to that place is that is does not have a swimming pool. The biggest perk obviously is that it is close to work.

It costs $54.00 per month with $100.00 joining fee.

There is another place that is a half hour drive from both my house and from work. It is open 24 hours a day which I like because I could work out earlier. However, they don't have any early cycling classes.

The biggest downfall there is that it is in the opposite direction of work and a half hour drive (on a good day, if the weather sucks it could be longer). The biggest perk is that it has swimming pool AND it does not have a joining fee.

It costs $55.00 per month.

I'm leaning toward the one closer to work because I'm afraid I won't go otherwise. But that pool and the no joining fee is tempting me..........

What to do?

How important is the pool to you? I love swimming, and I don't think I'd consider joining if they didn't have a pool - but if you can take it or leave it, I don't suppose it matters that much.

The pool is somewhat important but after thinking about it a good deal yesterday, I think the shorter drive and convenience trumps the pool.

The place by work gave me two free passes and I think I'm going to go check it out tonight after work.

You've probably picked the right one, as you sound as if you'll be more motivated to use that one, because of its location.

Sigh! I don't feel like working today.

So far this morning I have worked on a pre-sentence report and yelled at one of my offenders who missed his appointment. That has been the extent of my work related activities since 7:00AM. (it's now 11:25AM).

In the non-work related category, I have posted here several times, posted on FM (in response to Strat's post), gone to Wal Mart and talked to my dad on the phone.

Now it's almost time for lunch!

It's probably attracted some for the store owner - she gave you a free gift which will encourage you to go back to the store in the future. Whether that was her intention or not, I don't know.

I don't think that's the reason. It's clear that the people who work there really believe in this kind of stuff. And I have read about stones and crystals having power and energy. Crystals can help heal, for instance.

And I have found proof that Positive Thinking works. I have a book which outlined a way to go about it, and I was feeling down about something, and the book said that if I kept a consistent positive thought for just 68 seconds every few hours, I would start to notice experiences in my life corresponding with the positive thought.

So I tried it - I kept up a consistent positive though - and that very night, I had a positive experience that corresponded with that thought!

Funnily enough, crystal healing is something else I was going to add to my list of things I've never been convinced by. Crystals are beautiful to look at. I believe that acupuncture can work, and I believe that there are areas of the human body more receptive to healing through pressure, etc. But how exactly does crystal healing work?

Positive thinking in general has to be a good thing too, I think that having a positive outlook on life must promote well-being, and perhaps even boost the immune system, but what do you mean when you talk about positive thoughts above? Do you mean that if you think about something in a positive way for long enough, you can make it happen? Because that, I'm sorry, I don't believe.

Basically, yes. If you wanted to get some more money, for instance, if you thought long and hard, "I am earning more money" or "More money is coming to me" or "I have a new job with better wages", then eventually, more money would come into your experience.

All I can say is, the one time I did try positive thinking properly, for the length of time it stated in the book, I experienced the positive outcome I wanted.

My mum and stepdad are into that sort of thing. I gave this positive thinking thing a go, but felt ridiculous doing it. Sorry to say it, but I think it's nonsense. If something good happens to uccur, it's just a coincidence. It's got nothing to do with the positive thinking.

That's pretty much how I feel too. Of course, if the positive thoughts lead you to actually do something about it... e.g. give you the motivation to go and find a new job... then fair enough. But just sitting here thinking about it isn't going to do much in my opinion. Otherwise I'd be with the man of my dreams and be clutching the winning lotto ticket.

I understand why you feel that way, but I truly believe that positive thinking can work, if it's done properly. I find it very difficult to do, since I'm a naturally pessimistic person, so at times when I've tried it, I haven't attempted it enough, and no results have yielded.

Cakey, when you attempted it, how long did you try it for?
