I've just had Broadband problems, that's all, and it was a choice of using snail-speed dial-up on my parent's phone bill or being nice to my sister so she'd let me use hers. Neither of those options really appealed, so I thought I'd just do without the Internet for a few days. :)

It is quite a terrible situation. Has the cause been identified? It's not that uncommon either, is it? - although the scale of this one is on the larger side.

There are something like 19 fires burning at this point. All I heard last night that one of them initially began as a car fire.

It's compounded by the high Santa Ana winds and as much as I was complaining about things last night, I did learn something rather interesting. The Santa Ana winds blow in such a way that they produce "Fire Tornados" which are exactly what they sound like! It's quite bizarre to witness them and they are far more destructive and dangerous than some of the other blazes because they move at higher rate.

They arrested a guy today attempting to start yet another brush fire. They aren't releasing much information on him and they haven't said if they feel he was responsible for starting any of the others already burning.

California has burned before but I don't think quite on this scale. These fires are ranging from north of L.A. (Malibu) all the way to the Mexican border south of San Diego.

Serioulsy, I will never quite understand why anyone would live in California. Particuarly, Southern California. They have earth quakes, mud slides, floods, fires and celebrities! SCARY STUFF!

All I hear is Reinier Wolfcastle!

I still think the people of California voted him in for a laugh.

4000 posts, reached less quickly then the first 3999. I figured having joined in December 2005, I reached 46 by January 2006 before going AWOL. Regular posting in January of this year, reaching 1000 by February and hitting 2000 and 3000 quite soon after. This has been a bigger one to reach. So, regular I am.

I'm surprised they haven't gotten a plastic surgeon to get rid of that line.

Well,
McNamara/Troy did move there from Miami at the end of the last series
:D Spoiler in case you haven't watched the last series of Nip/Tuck yet, so you can ignore it - although it's nothing major to the plots, really :)

Personally, I would want to live in San Francisco. I had a burning desire to do so when I was about 11, it faded a little at 15 but there's something about that city that attracts me. I might pull a favour from an old roomie who lives nearby.

Can I just ask a quick question - can anyone else see that the forum clock keeps jumping between GMT and BST or is it just me?? :?
If it's me, is there something I should be re-setting on my PC? Sorry if this is really basic stuff - I keep seeing the hours changing and I'm concerned I'm losing several hours of my day on FO (well, more than usual!).

I noticed the hour kept changing yeah, panicked me slightly at one point this morning before work. Mind you so did the clock in the kitchen (must change that) even though my alarm clock and phone said the same and I'd looked at them both a few minutes previous. Overly alert in the morning I ain't

I noticed i was an hour ahead this morning, until i realised i was still set at GMT+1   but i've not noticed any problems with the time jumping on the board. I'll keep an eye on it though.
