The Rant Thread!!

My turn to rant. The 'Aargh!' above didn't quite relieve all of my tension!

Why is it, that when I deal with about 200 students per year, there are about 5 individuals who take up 99% of my time? How does sending five emails totalling 10,000 words (I'm not exaggerating!) achieve anything? I can't understand what they're talking about, my colleagues can't understand it either, yet I'm supposed to make sense of it and deal with their queries? :?

And to make matters worse, I just opened the damn computer and the only two fans I can see are working perfectly fine. Alas, I still cannot hear the actual "system" fan and I don't know where the hell it is and I still get the system fan failure to I can't fix the thing myself and now it will have to wait until I can bring it a friend to have her fix it!

GRRRR!

Why do people think i'm a mind reader - i get a very vague email, from a guy i've done some work for - 3 months ago, saying "Please see the attached e mail from xxxx. Can you check out the web links?". Attached email says, "Web links are mostly wrong on our revamped site" - no other info! Web links is a very vague term and it means different things to different people. I've checked through the site for anything i think it could possibly mean and can't see one thing that looks different to the spec and info i was given to work to.

And, they sent this to me at 4.55pm when they close at 5.00pm, so i can't even try to get any further info until monday morning at the earliest - odds on they'll be panicking that nothing has changed over the weekend.

Yep, sounds like that age-old tactic of 'shovel the shit over the fence at five to five on a Friday'. I've been on the wrong end of that myself from pesky 9-5'ers. :x

Needs my meds (that sounds vaguely Arthur Steptoe-esque) so I check my prescription slip, it's a fracking Blood Pressure review slip (herditary in my family) and so go to surgery fill in a form but what do you know I have to wait four days. Christ al-fracking-mighty I need it now

People who sodding drive with their sodding phones or talking on therefore. Twice I've been sideswiped by them, several times they've clipped curbs and once they almost ran my mates car off the road. Cocks.

Ditto people in big cars who need it because they live in 'rough' neighbourhoods. Madam, Kensington is not a rough neighbourhood.

I am back my friend...My God...my new bike (affectionately nicknamed The Beast) creaks when I cycle now. As I pedal it seriously creaks. I get off turn her over and spin the pedals. No creaking. Get back on. Creaking. Now you may say, bikes make noise but this one was seriously silent. Even when I walked with it, no steady clicking. I think my crash has knocked it about but bloody hell.

People stare at me. Sure, probably part paranoia but when they do watch you as you walk past. Make a point of it, it gets on my Bristol Cities.

Ohhh, so that's where that come from, it's rhyming slang! A while ago, I mentioned to my mum that there was someone breast feeding their baby on the train as we went through Bristol, and she thought it was really funny that it should have been in Bristol at the time!

I had no idea what she was talking about....

I tend now to use slang, not neccessarily Cockney but take the C-word I physically (it sounds silly) say it, mainly I guess because my Dad called me it so I say James Blunt. Anyway, that's not really a rant but there you go. Maybe I should be interviewed.

Yeah, it's quite cool.

I don't tend to use much rhyming slang, because it just sounds stupid when I do.

:( Glad there's a 'rant' thread, I need it!

Some friends of my mum's said about six months ago that they'd like to get to know my husband and I better, and that we should go up to their house for a meal one day.

About ten minutes ago, they phoned out of the blue and asked if we wanted to go up tonight! I explained that my husband wouldn't finish work until 6.30, and that he would be tired. Also, I'm tired too. I explained that it was my niece's birthday, and that perhaps we could do it another day instead.

But he was so relentlessly persistent, that eventually I felt I had to agree. He really wouldn't take 'no' for an answer. It's nice of them to ask us, but talk about short notice! :( I'm so tired, I don't know how I'm going to keep my eyes open. :(

I have to be honest, it wasn't that bad actually. :) I feel ungrateful for being reluctant to go now! His girlfriend is apparently a chef, which I didn't know about! She cooked a lovely meal, then we watched the rugby. :) My hubby Rob would even rather support France than England, so there were two opposing factions in the room!
