Rob Brydon-Small Man In A Book

typical celeb autobiography, so therefore I (bit of a sucker for them) and was just as funny as I hoped, great bargain for £2.50 in a charity shop

 Currently reading "The Complete Frankenstein" (something lie that anyway).

It's a collection of stories by various authors either based on or inspred by Mary Shelly's creation.

Read two stories so far (one about a middle aged woman who buys sex robots  and one where Frankensteins monster has been living up in a cave for 200 years with his "wife" ).

The princess bride the abridged book released by William Goldman [ from the original writer S.Mogersten version ]and of which the film is based on .

What i didnt realise is how much bigger the original was theres a lot of unessasary stuff left out by Goldman and i can see why he did it . My fav thing was as i was reading thru i can see bits of the film as i went along and which was brilliant . I did always think the bloke who does the wedding bit was made up the way he said ' mawage ' n stuff hehe but its all in there . My fav book now and its still one of my all time fav films :)

 Just finished Angels & Demons.

Pretty good read.
My usual cruising speed for a book is 30 - 50 pages a night. Monday night I did in 180 pages in one sitting
I had a couple of theories and wanted to see if I was right about them. With a smug bastard grin, I can say I was pretty close :D
Did in the last 140 pages last night and this afternoon.

Fast paced and exciting, but I think Dan Brown went a bit too far trying to connect some of the dots.

Well worth a read.

I enjoyed 3 of the 4 Dan Brown books I've read. The Da Vinci Code, Angels and Demons and Deception Point were quick and enjoyable. The only one I had a really difficult time with was The Lost Symbol.

Oh yeah, I forgot that I read Digital Fortress too. That was pretty awful.

I was just really bored with The Lost Symbol. It took me a long time to get through it whereas Da Vinci and Angels and Demons I just devoured in a couple days.

I didn't enjoy The Lost Symbol as much as the others either and I hated Digital Fortress. I thought Angels and Demons was better than The Da Vinci Code.

Digital Fortress was terrible - I worked out the ending really early on, and I almost never do that with books or films!

The Shining is my favourite. Insomnia is second. Aside from The Shining, though, I got rid of all my Stephen King books. I couldn't bring myself to read them again after I found out what his imagination dreamt up for the kids in IT.

Yeah IT is is kinda messed up.

The unabridged version of the stand is my favourite, followed by that one where the writer is held hostage, my brain fails me for the title!

 I love rereading books :D
I've had a few people ask me why I read a book more than once, and I just don't get it. If you buy your favourite movie on DVD you don't watch it once and never look at it again :?

SK is brilliant.
Fav books would have to be Salem's Lot, Misery, and Pet Semetery.
I'm also a big fan of his short stories. Collections like Different Seasons, Skeleton Crew, Nightmares And Dreamscapes, Night Shift, etc.

He can get pretty shocking at times, but isn't that why you laid your coins down in the first place?

I agree - I like to re-read books too. I usually pick up on things I didn't notice the first time around too.

Hmm, maybe... I pay for the horror, though, not the
Spoiler: show

. There were so, so many different ways he could have written that, and most of them would have been a better storyline anyway. The two-part TV series has a far better ending, for instance.

 OK, you've got me there
I didn't think that was needed, so I sort of try and gloss over that part.

You know, it only occurs to me now..................

Spoiler: show
Beverley's dad was so strict because he was scared that she would be doing things with boys.
In retrospect, considering what happened, wasn't he actually proved to be right? :?

 I've just finished Insomnia by Steven King.
Funny enough, I finished it about 7 o clock this morning

There are quite a few references to It which is set in the same location.
A few characters and streets are refferenced. I like seeing something familiar in a book.

Has anyone ever read the Dark Tower series?

This is the third story i've related that's related in someway to the series, but each one has been able to stand on it's own legs in it's own right rather than depend on the series for it to make sence.
