Paris Hilton

She's been in the news recently.

I'm not a fan of her by any means, but I've seen some really nasty things said about her that I think are a bit strong. I understand the criticisms levelled at her, and she does bring quite a lot of that on herself, but some people say some really spiteful things which I think are uncalled for. I don't think she's ever really harmed anyone, has she?

My basic feelings are that she is quite spoilt and immature, but I don't think she is totally bad. She's said a few things that have led me to believe that she might be reassessing things and seems to be thinking of trying to turn herself around. I hope this is true, as I think it would be nice if she came out of jail a better, more mature person.

I've also found out that she has done quite a bit for some charity organisations, which I admit has made me have more respect for her. I wasn't aware of that.

Sorry, she's a whiney, spoiled little brat and there's really not much more to her.

She is certainly not reassessing things in her life! The girl tried to use her fame to get out of jail. She played a game which gained her freedom for a night. A judge decided her whiney spoiled brat self needed to go back to jail and he put her there where she belongs.

She's brought this all on herself and did it quite well in fact. She's up there in the ranks with Brittney Spears!

I must agree with CNR. I think it's annoying how much press coverage is given to her even on the BBC. Diddoms she has to go to jail.

I do actually agree with that, but she gave an interview from jail where it seemed like she was considering changing her ways.

"I used to act dumb. It was an act. I am 26 years old, and that act is no longer cute. It is not who I am, nor do I want to be that person for the young girls who looked up to me. I know now that I can make a difference, that I have the power to do that. I have been thinking that I want to do different things when I am out of here."

Of course, it could be all talk. She might carry on the same way when she goes out of jail. But I'm not going to judge her. Sometimes, these sorts of things act as wake-up calls and I think it's possible that she might try to change a little after this.

It's all talk! I've heard the same thing out people's mouths for the past 15 years! Every time somebody goes to jail they are going to "change their ways." 5 minutes after they are out of jail, they are off doing the same crap that got them there in the first place!

The other thing is that people always seem to find "religion" when they get incarcerated. We have a saying in my job.......God lives at the County Jail because that's where people are always "finding" him.

Paris will get out of jail and go back to her whiney, bratty skank ways quickly.

Well, some people do change when they get out of jail. I don't know how likely it is that Paris will, but personally, I'd give her a chance.

In my opinion, she's a stupid, spoilt little brat who deserves to be in prison. Drink driving is a serious crime, and just because you're famous, you shouldn't be excluded from the punishment it carries.

How many stories do you hear about Hollywood celebrities being involved in drink driving cases? These people have the money to pay for drivers, so why don't they? I think it's the total lack of regard for your fellow road-users which annoys me the most about how selfishly they act.

Anyway, back to Paris, I don't think she's going to change. Maybe she won't drink and drive again, if the experience in prison does its job, but then again, give her a Hollywood party, and maybe she will.

I actually laughed out loud when I saw her on TV saying that "I hope the way I'm handling this is an inspiration to all young people." Yeah Paris, a fine role model you are...

The way she's been acting for the last few years, I don't think she's a great role model either.

That's why it would be nice if more young people became interested in the Bee Gees, because they were all great people. And Andy Gibb too, apart from his use of drugs (which he did finally stop using), he was a sweet little guy.

I'm going to have to do more to spread the word about them.

Paris is a ridiculous person! But she's quite emblematic of just how easy celebrity is to obtain these days. What's she ever done really? Homemade porn? Partied a lot? Bad behavior? Yes all of that. But Paris is also a symbol of what's wrong with our society. She was released from jail because their is not enough jail space, and the authorities won't just come out and say that. They come up with a lot of reasons why they did it, but none of them are the truth. There's not enough jail space to hold people like Paris. And they won't say it because it gets back to a fundamental issue in America. More jail space means higher taxes (you have to pay for it somehow), and in America, no one wants to pay taxes so issues like jail space get ignored. It also means, possibly, a jail being built in neighborhoods that don't want them. The sad truth. They have to go somewhere. But it's all moot. Nothing will change as a result of Paris. Celebs will still get special treatment, and if Mickeba ever gets a DUI, he'll be put in the hole!

I don't think it's so much to do with space, as the fact she is the 'celebrity' daughter of wealthy white parents. Although she is back in jail, as the release was overturned.

I think the main problem is, she broke probation after committing a similar offence previously. She should have learned, although for all the hysterics, 45 days isn't really going to be much of a problem, in reality. She's not going to be in a 'regular' jail - and if it scares her enough to take the offence seriously and not re-offend, job's done.

Funnily enough, in the UK, wasn't Pete Docherty arrested, charged and found guilty of driving under the influence of drugs along with possession of Class A drugs? - also violating probation, yet he 'got away with it' each time.

She's certainly not been as leniently treated as i expected, no matter how much was tried. I do think a working class non-white, would have been treated more harshly though.

Paul O'Grady just mentioned that she won't use the toilet or something because she doesn't want her picture taken and added that it's alright her having her 'naked' on the net and all that...well, there you go.
