:)

I'm looking forwards to seeing it. Bond is top of my wanting to see list - even with Dark Knight to come. I'm afraid all the Heath Ledger (RIP) kerfuffle has diluted the enthusiasm for me.

I guess I'm a little late to the Dark Knight enthusiasm. Only watching Batman Begins the other week.

Still, as for Bond, I'm finding myself cool on it. I guess with it not being out until the end of October...4 months thereabouts. Craig's alright but I did say after Casino Royale in Nov'06 that I need a second film to make a concrete verdict.

And yet, I like OHMSS and George Lazenby...hmm

Well, i may gripe about various things in all the films, but there's never been a bad James Bond in my eyes.

I don't know. I fear I'm too critical even for my own liking about the Bonds. :)

I might go back through them at some point before QOS.

Just seen the QOS trailer on MSN...flashes of Licence to Kill...a DBS...and at the end like Kenny in "Their Playing Our Song"...all I could say was a breathless: "Wow."

I suppose it's only a short trailer - and they can make just about any film look good, but... It's looking promising. :)

I'll check it out soon. I've avoided stuff so far. But, the trailer is making me more interested.

I'll say it again, Arterton -as attractive as she might be- at 21 playing a MI6 agent...well...

Stop griping, man! :)

Still the merry-go-round of rumours for the next Bond theme. Winehouse & Ronson, Beyoncé, Leona Lewis, Duran Duran, Jack White, Duffy, Annie Lennox.... and now Alicia keys is the latest favourite. The list keeps growing.

I don't think we'll here anything until September or that time anyway.

But the list is indeed long...and at times, humourous.

Maybe Right Said Fred could do the song...

She's still a classy lady.

Even if she doesn't speak about OHMSS at all.

It seems that they've chosen who to do the song for QOS...Alicia Keys and some bloke Jack White. I believe this is official...

Here's Charlie Higson talking about it - and the apparent lack of a good song for the last 20 years? I think he's talking utter shite, personally.

Me too. A View To a Kill is still one of my favourite themes. I'd have preferred Goldeneye's theme if they could have persuaded their first choice, Shirley Bassey, to perform it. Tina Turner's version was still pretty good though.

A View to a Kill was probably the last decent Bond song...but that is outside the 20yrs Higson's talking about I guess, 1988 onwards...TLD's alright, LTK's sub-par...doesn't fit with the whole film.

Admittedly, unless it's OHMSS or even The Spy Who Loved Me, I skip the title sequences when I watch on DVD...QOS probably won't be the exception.

Actually it's my mistake  - it is 30 years he's talking about - i just wiped out ten years from the calendar for some reason  He said the theme to The Spy Who Loved Me was the last good song - so that's going to 1977. Dunno where i got 20 years from :D

Anyway, he's wrong in my eyes. A View To A Kill is great. I also really like the themes for Casino Royale, The Living Daylights and Tomorrow Never Dies. But i don't think any of them are poor. I don't know whether Licence To Kill is wrong for the film, but i still like the theme. I don't dislike any Bond tracks.

Well, I guess it's just me. :) I guess my way of thinking is that LTK's a pretty dark film and the song's a romantic one...But, Nobody Does It Better is indeed a classic but it's the song everyone thinks of Bond...

The only thing with songs now is that they have to be chart toppers or at best hitters.

That's probably true about them looking to get a hit single out of the tune - although i don't think You Know My Name was that commercial really. It's part of the modern marketing machine i suppose. Even the oldest Bond tunes were sung by pretty big star names of their era though.

I certainly take your point with the tone of the film vs song for LTK.

Actually I like that too, I'd forgotten about it until you mentioned it.

I think we may actually agree on the best ever Bond theme Mayday - OHMSS? Two and a half minutes of pure John Barry-ness. :D

I'd put that OHMSS tune right up there, too. It'll probably give Mayday kittens but i also like the remix by The Propellerheads.
