yeah, he had a pile of best actor nominations for that one.

It's nothing against Daniel Craig. He's a fine actor. I don't even blame him completely for my lukewarm responses to his two Bond films. More than anything I think the writing and direction for both were just awful.

I quite like the films, well CR more than QoS, but i am/was hoping to see Craig given the chance with a more traditional Bond outing for his 3rd go.

Brosnan is too old to play Bond again.

I don't mind Craig's Bond (it's not Craig's fault they turned Bond into Jason Bourne) but I really disliked QoS. I pretty much found it pointless. It was just a bad movie.

Agreed. I think he's the worst of the bunch. Maybe they'll bring back Brosnan. I don't think he's done anything worthwhile since Bond---a good example of Shelley Long syndrome.

Yeah, he really bombed with that little Mamma Mia project.

Pierce Brosnan is 57 years old. He is absolutely too old to play Bond. Being Bond is physically demanding and it calls for a younger actor. One of the reasons Brosnan stopped doing Bond was because he didn't want to deal with the physically demanding aspect of it. Ansd he was younger then!

I love me some Brosnan and he's my second favorite Bond but I don't want a 60 year old James Bond. It's just not right.

I don't know. If Harrison Ford can handle Indy in his older age there's no reason why someone couldn't handle Bond in that age range, and I'd love to see Bond as an older guy still kicking ass in a world somewhat different from the one he's familiar with.

If that makes sense.

Harrison Ford's old Indy isn't nearly as good as the younger Indy. Plus, Harrison Ford wanted to be Indy again. Brosnan quit being Bond because he was suffering from the physical demands.

Also, I think an older Indy can't really compare to an older Bond. People expect archeologists to be old guys! People don't expect spies in the field to be old.

Bringing back Connery as Bond was a mistake and bringing back Brosnan would be too. IMHO.

I agree. Connery was only 52 when he filmed NSNA yet he looked so old and decrepit it almost spoilt the memory of his golden years back in the '60s. Brosnan's the same age as Roger Moore was when he filmed AVTAK - 'nuff said.

I've said this before but what I'd love to see is a lower budget Bond set in the 1950s of the original Ian Fleming books, with Jon Hamm playing the lead (with an English accent, naturally  )

He may be 57, but he looks fantastic. He could pass for 50 easily, and that's a perfectly good age for Bond, IMO.

Connery was 31 when he filmed Dr No and he still remains the quintessential Bond for me. I liked the youth and vibrancy Craig brought to the role and I think the producers should go that route again if they decide to re-cast. As much as I enjoyed Brosnan's Bond, I don't see the value in bringing him back to the role now he's pushing 60. He's had his time.

I see Sam Worthington is the current bookies' favourite but I think he's just the flavour of the month at the moment - I don't see him as Bond.

The literary book was essentially seen to be between 40-50, although chronology experts (whatever they are) had Bond as young as late 20s for some of adventures that were mentioned.

As much as certain people are continuing to bang on about Brosnan, Cat's pointed out the ultimate deciding factor - Brosnan simply feels it would be too much of a killer to do all that shit any more. And as much as i like him - thank god he feels that way.

He looks complete cardboard. Anyone who can make Harry Hamlin look like the epitome of charisma has surely (hopefully) got to be on a loser

Is that right? I know he wrote Casino Royale in 1948 and continued to write the books until his death in '64. I've read them all (over 20 years ago now, like) and I never got the impression they were written in anything other than the present day. Of course I'm willing to bow down to Bond experts on this - no doubt there'll be pointers in there somewhere that give the exact chronology away.

Well I still think Brosnan could pull it off. I also think older Indy is just as awesome, but that's a whole other argument.

Wasn't Connery supposed to look decrepit? Besides he made a great post-Bond career out of playing the older guy still kicking ass and taking names. I didn't like NSNA either, but that didn't have anything to do with Connery himself.

I like your idea though, B.S.

You'd think there's at least a possible tv series out of that idea?
