They're trying to replicate their once-feared pace attack but they just don't have the talent they used to have at their disposal.

Sidebottom? I've got to use that name for a character.

Unless they have an epic collapse of England proportions in the morning, I don't think we can force a result now. That current annoying partnership should see them to safety.

 i spoke too soon for them. The Windies are truly crap. It's a sad state they've got themselves in to.

Well done England anyway. you can only beat what's in front of you - and they actually seem to be forcing some results in the way they were doing back around 2003-5.

Yeah, England showed a bit of class when they blew their tail over. Harmison looked back in form too, and Monty is truly the real deal!

Things are looking up!

We'll get hammered as usual in the one-dayers though.

Ian Bishop was quite funny on Channel Five's cricket highlights .They asked him how well he could see the Windies doing in the one day cricket, and he said something along the lines of them not being good enough to play against the top sides - but they'd be competitive against England

Quite often the most cutting remarks are made in all innocence!

I remember watching one-dayers in the early 90s - we were ace! It's hard to think we got to a world cup final, and were actually favourites to win it!

They need a complete overhaul I think and start picking a specialist one day team that bears little resemblance to the test side. Vaughan resigning was a good start. I'd be happy with either Collingwood or Peitersen as captain.

Yeah, we've been in three finals and lost them all  We've been left behind by the development of the one-day game though - never moved with the times.

Pieterson would be interesting. If Boycott thinks somebody like him should be given a try, then it must be worth thinking about. i imagine it's too radical for England though. We're hardly the most innovative nation in any sport.

You're right, Collingwood's nailed on, although I do like his gritty style.

Shit butty. We're in big trouble in the short form of the game. I can't wait for the 20/20 World Cup later this year...

Great knock from KP today, it should be an enthralling day's cricket tomorrow! Although typically this summer, heavy showers are forecast. It would be a real shame if the weather prevented a result in this game. It could go either way at the moment, and it's not often you say that on the fifth day of a test match.

Shit butty again, eh, BN? Blatently plum LBW turned down to wrap up the match, then the bad light and rain ends the game. Good to see Anderson coming back to form though. That bowling attack did pretty well. Hat off to Allan Donald i think.

Last test was frustrating, this one's just as bad so far with great weather so far today but the outfield too sodden to play on...

Ah, looks like we've had some play since I last looked, and wished I hadn't...

Two wickets down already, Strauss and Vaughan the men out. :x

Yep. Collingwood's showing some typical North-Eastern grit though which is nice to see. :D

94-3 at tea, so a small recovery. i'm not going to speak too soon, though. We need big hundreds from both Cook and Colly now.

Tossbags - i go off and look at some Michelle Ryan photos, from the upcoming Bionic Woman series, and we slump to 115-5!

I can blame you then.

I'm 'lucky' enough to be watching this debacle at work. Thay also put the
Asia Cup final on earlier which Liverpool lost - it's like a form of mental torture is this!
