It depends on whether you're a hard core fan or just trying to get into them. The most accessible album is 'The Man Machine'. It contains the likes of, 'The Model', 'The Robots' and 'Neon Lights'.
Their first, Autobahn, reflects the simplicity of the technology they were using back in the early seventies and is consequently a little underwhelming now, but back in the day it was very fresh. Trans-Europe Express is arguably the favourite of the hard core fans. It actually has the feel of being on a train journey - so as a concept album it certainly achieved its goal. 'Computer World' is quite good, it was released just after 'The Man Machine' and is a salute to digital technology. The best track on it is probably 'Computer Love', which you might recognise because Coldplay sampled it relatively recently. There is also 'Tour de France' that is worth a go if you like some of the others.

Thanks Hans. It's a present for a fan who doesn't actually own any of their CDs! I think 'Computer World' is the one to go for, from what you've said.
Much appreciated, ta.

Just for japes,
Das Hokey Kokey Bill Bailey in the style of Kraftwerk.
Talking about Kraftwerk required a listen to Das Model on youtube, and I noticed in the comments that a cover had been done by a band called Die Toten Hosen.
Now, my German is not great, but i'm pretty sure that translates as Death's Pants

The Smiths - Rusholme Ruffians
I have Gilmore Girls to thank for getting me into this song, and indeed, the wonderful Smiths as a whole.

I think it was thanks to
500 Days of Summer that I became aware of them. The two lovers first make a connection and fall in love because of 'There is a Light that Never Goes Out' - (the relationship soon ends in heartbreak, bitterness and despair, but still, sweet, right?

Currently listening to Bennie and Jets. I can't help but picture the scene from 27 Dresses whenever I hear it now. Love that scene.

I love that song. Possibly my favourite Smiths track. I often get that chorus stuck in my head.

Yeah, it's an amazing song. Probably my favourite too - though my #1 track is pretty interchangeable.

It's very rare that I fall in love with an album but I've been listening to the self-titled debut album from Jake Bugg and it's really clicked with me. Frankly I find it pretty astounding that the guy is only 18 years old - his voice has the gravitas and wisdom of somebody much older. Favourite tracks are 'Lightning Bolt', 'Two Fingers', 'Seen It All'. 'Simple as This', 'Country Song', 'Broken' (my favourite) and 'Note to Self'.

Yes, i've liked what i've heard of him so far. I've caught him making a couple of tv appearances lately and he's got his head screwed on properly. A very bright prospect.

A breath of fresh air in the current British musical climate. I'm considering getting a ticket to see him in Manchester next year. And if you've liked what you've heard, I'd definitely recommending downloading his album.

Brought Taylor swifts new album- Red
And annoyingly my favourite song on there is Begin Again, one of the four songs from her album I managed to download for free before I ended up paying £9.97 for the album. So I'm not overly impressed. Her album is doing well, because the country has pretty much been replaced by pop... Mehhhh.
Listening to a bit of red hot chilli peppers too, mcdreamy likes them and they don't hurt my ears... Anyone else listen and could recommend some songs for a newbie???
