Billy Joel's great!

Oh, I love that one! They were quite a big influence on the Bee Gees, and I think Maurice, especially, was a big fan. When the Bee Gees were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in (I think) 1997, Maurice said what made it even better for him was that they were inducted in there by Brian Wilson.

And on what would prove to be their last album in 2001, one of Maurice's songs was called Walking On Air, and Brian apparently called him up and told him he really liked it. It thrilled Maurice no end. :D

Well, of course. :) I listen to the Carpenters. And America's music would probably be called "easy-listening" too - the stuff I've heard, anyway.

Yep. Whittaker's version is my favourite, mind.

Speaking of favourite versions - just listened to Hallelujah by Jeff Buckley.

The folks had the best of 'The Beatles' on downstairs just now - and there some pretty good songs, which is praise indeed coming from a music novice like me.

'The Best of The Beatles' always reminds me of Alan Partridge!

That's a great quote! I'm in a similar boat as Alan, I know none of the songs by name.

Continuing the Beatles, theme, I'm listening to Help right now.

I don't suppose your parents have any Bee Gees music, do they, Cakey?

Ate it Up - Violent Femmes - It was my favourite and most perfect song 21 years ago for an adolescent angst ridden teenage virgin, but I still love it now. 8-)
