I do believe the Carpenters covered this song. They covered a Beatles song, I know, and I think it was this one. I'll have to check my parents' albums...

Yes, they did cover it. It's usually on their greatest hits albums.

My mother has a couple; I enjoy listening to them. My Mum used to play Sing around the house when I was five years old; it's one of the first songs I remember hearing.
