A couple of times in the past I've mentioned going to see a folk band called 'The Yetties' - they're quite well known, and had a regular slot on BBC Radio 4 until they retired last year. They also wrote the theme tune for 'The Archers', and have quite a large band of followers both here and in Canada.

Their last concert was in April 2011, and it was recorded for TV. Keren, her cousins and I were onstage for one of the songs, which was pretty cool. The whole thing has now been released as an offical DVD, so I bought a copy! A nice little memento of a band that I've been going to see regularly since I was a baby. :)

I liked Chronicle. It kind of petered out with the ending, in my eyes, but it was a very decent film overall. Pretty amazing production values for the budget, too.

Shame to hear it may not play out to the end . I kinda like the ones that are off the beaten track which is why i thought super was one of the best films last year , u should give that one a go .

I miss going to Keller's Flea Market in Savannah, GA. You wouldn't believe how many DVDs and Blu-rays you could find at the tables for next-to-nothing.

Not many people here buy discs anymore, but I know at least a couple of us have used Planet Axel in the past, so it's a real shame to find out today that they've gone bankrupt: https://www.planetaxel.com/

PlanetAxel.com is no more

It is with great sadness, deep regret and utter embarrassment that we announce the closure and bankruptcy of PlanetAxel.com

On Monday afternoon, June 18th, 2012 the board of directors have informed us that no further investment will be made in the company. This comes in light of the recently finished 2011 financials which showed such an insurmountable deficit and loss to company value that a swift decision was made almost overnight. We have been asked to provide a quick summary/FAQ of your options as a previous customer of PlanetAxel.com with respect any outstanding orders/refunds.

[..]

On a personal note I would like apologize to everyone that will be somehow affected or inconvenienced by this matter. I've spend half my life with the company (18 years in total) and it all ended today. This is not 'just business' to me, but sincerely personal. I can honestly say that this has been a sad, sad day for all of us here at the office but the fact that so many suppliers, affiliates, employees and most important of all, customers are affected by this bankruptcy is almost unbearable.

On behalf of everyone at PlanetAxel.com I offer my sincerest and heartfelt apologies and thank you for your support over the years.

With sincerest regards,

Rasmus Christiansen, General Manager

One of the best R1 importers there ever was. Such a shame.

Definitely a shame, what turned out to be my last disc from them arrived in the post 2 days ago, so glad it got here OK.

Any other R1 DVD etailer recommendations?
