I've heard that but I'm thinking if the
Spoiler: show
right role comes along (something completely NOT Joffery) he might jump at so he doesn't risk being typecast.

I'd just been reading about that.

[SPOILER] retiring from acting after Game Of Thrones S4

I'll certainly miss him in the show.

I'm a very late comer to the Game of Thrones owing to having only just got that channel and not being able to access catch up tv, I'm a bit lost at the moment but I do know who killed him lol

Quite enjoying Penny Dreadful so far. Nice looking show.

Anybody watch Hannibal? That's got to be the most beautiful, and creepy, looking show currently out there.

Between the above two shows and American Horror Story, horror based dramas are having a decent run.

I have friends that love American Horror Story. I've never gotten into it. Haven't seen Hannibal either.

Not tried Penny Dreadful, but American Horror Story is great, campy fun, and Hannibal is beautifully disturbing.

Next on my to-watch list will be True Detective S1, I think. Heard so many positive things.

I never even heard of Penny Dreadful. Is this a series that only airs in the UK?

Thanks. :)

I thought it was alright. But i did enjoy it more for the two leads working together rather than being blown away by an amazing script.

Penny Dreadful's also a slow burner, but it works well.

It's a gorgeous show. Stunning cinematography. And Mads Mikkelsen plays a fantastic Lecter. Great screen presence.

I tried so hard to like True Detective. I just couldn't. I lasted a few episodes but it just wasn't working for me.

I rewatched all 8 episodes of True Detective in one day, this last weekend, and i loved it. It definitely benefits from indulging in the show in a short period of time and concentrating on the events. The first time i watched the show it was an episode roughly every couple of weeks, and with it more in the background while doing other things. I'm glad shows like this get produced.

I'd also spent the last couple of months revisiting 24 from s1 to s8, ready for the new season. That hasn't stood the test of time in my eyes. While I was always lukewarm to the show anyway, I find the scripts are so ropey and the dialogue is so appalling that it spoils any of my enjoyment of the fun parts. It's a cut and paste job from a series of plot devices repeated ad infinitum. It'll always keep marks for some of the styling - such as the multiscreen stuff - and the general idea will always be an interesting/clever/ambitious one, but the execution just makes me angry

To be fair, i've enjoyed the six eps of s9 i've seen so far more than any of s6-s8 eps I zoomed through in the previous couple of weeks.

Maybe I'll give True Detective another shot. It's one of those shows that I really want to like.

I know Game of Thrones season 4 ends this month too, I've only seen 2 episodes. Gonna' marathon that as well

Just the season finale left to watch for Game of Thrones S4 now. Enjoyable enough last couple of episodes, although i seem to be in the minority of preferring ep9's
Spoiler: show
battle at the Wall
over ep8's
Spoiler: show
battle for Tyrion's life
. I felt like they phoned in the plot for the ending of ep8, I could see it unfolding so easily. Looked nice, dramatic and gory, but was a bit lazy for what i'm used to from the show. The
Spoiler: show
Wall
episode never really matched the
Spoiler: show
Battle Of Blackwater
or the
Spoiler: show
Red Wedding
, but i found it engaging considering that group (outside of
Spoiler: show
Jon Snow and Sam
) has possibly the least developed/interesting group of all the kingdom threads.

I enjoyed The Wall stuff but not as much as much as the previous episode. I knew what was going to happen in both episodes but Tyrion is one of my all time favorite TV characters so Ep.8 was more enjoyable for me. I found Ep9 the least compelling of the Ep9's thus far. Still though, I liked it and I agree about the relationship between Jon and Sam.

I'm currently working my way through the US version of House of Cards. 2 more episodes left to go. Kevin Spacey is amazing as is Robin Wright. It's a very good show. Kind of like a Bizarro West Wing.

Pleasing enough conclusion to the season on Game Of Thrones, i thought. Pity to see
Spoiler: show
The Hound meet his demise (or i assume he has, even though we haven't seen his on-screen death) as i liked That relationship dynamic with Arya
.

Glad to see
Spoiler: show
Tyrion
is still alive for now. Tidy bit of revenge, too

I haven't seen that. Nice design on the S1 box set, though. Do you recommend the show, JT?
