Daphne does dinner

Postby frasierfan85 » Sun Nov 02, 2003 6:05 pm

I noticed that this episode lasted about 4-5 minutes longer than other episodes I've seen recently.Have there been other episodes with extended time that I might not know of?

"The Good Son" is one minute longer than other episodes. I got this information from the special features on the season 1 DVD where Peter Casey and David Lee comment on the pilot episode. Originally this episode was 8 minutes longer, but Paramount only allowed them to extend by 1 minute.

All episodes are supposed to be 22,5 minutes long and with 7,5 minutes of commercials it's 30 minutes. In Denmark they have very few commercials - most episodes are actually shown without commercials, so I guess I'm lucky!

Are you sure Daphne Does Dinner was longer than other episodes? I don't remember it seeming so. One thing to mention is that UK screenings are a minute shorter than US versions due to the PAL system slightly speeding up the original NTSC recording.

I wouldn't put in anywhere near a "horrible" episode list. I quite like it.

I like it too. It's one of the better episodes of season 10 IMO.

Pretty decent episode which Daphne is actually a decent character in. Not one of my favourites of Season 10 (which I quite like) but still not bad.

A brilliant episode, Daphne is brilliant in it and i love it when she yells 'you're not supposed to be in here', also her dress looks stunning on her. And Frasier says,' congratulations Daphne you're officially a Crane'....one classic memorable line for sure. Very enjoyable and the contribution of Jane (Daph), Millicent (Gertrude) and Ashley (Alice) makes it fantastic viewing. :)

I like the beginning:

An unnamed woman : And I bet you don't even have tourette's.

Frasier: Poop! Damn!

As I've said and elaborated upon elsewhere, this is in fact the longest "Frasier" episode that was not advertised as being "extended" ("The Two Hundredth").

It's definitely a good episode and the ONE episode where Gertrude Moon is NOT annoying. Gertrude was very entertaining in this episode with the artist and all. The writers did her character justice in this one - she was just the right amount of silly and not at all disturbing to watch. IMO
One of the best things about watching Frasier is the rewind button!

I think this one's a classic. The opening scene where it shows the aftermath of an unseen Crane dinner party is one of the funniest moments of the entire series. "Bonjiorrrno!"
