Rather hilarious, Nov 28, 2011

Reviewer: Sammy J from Melbourne, Australia

There's not much to say about an episode like "The Candidate". It's
taut and funny, utilising the inherent differences between the Crane
boys and their dad, and some great workplace comedy on the side.
It's always fun to see Frasier publicly humiliated and Kelsey Grammer
is hysterical as he realises - mid-sentence - just how unintentionally
funny the commercial is.

A great episode from start to finish.

The candidate, Aug 10, 2006

Great plot, the laughs as always come thick and fast, with Frasier's pomposity as always dealt short shrift as he then is compromised in his support for the candidate when he realises the chaps an absolute nutter, again with hilarious sub plots intertwining to make this a laugh a minute hilarious episode, this is comic writing at it's best.
To be honest it's hard to pick a bad un! They are all so cleverly written, this one just made me belly laugh and quite frankly there are few sitcoms either historic or new that make me do that. Friends is a close second to Frasier but for style panache and rapier wit Sideshow Bob does it every time!!

'The Candidate' review, May 25, 2005

Reviewer: Jocelyn from London, UK

An unlikely combination of political satire and alien abduction is the basis for another highly memorable episode as Frasier, appalled by Martin's campaigning for right wing politician Holden Thorpe, decides to film a TV endorsement for the liberal candidate Phil Patterson - who then rather ruins things when he confides to Frasier that he was once taken up in a spaceship by little green men. The obvious highlight here is the new meaning which Frasier's speech takes on after the revelation, especially the reference to Patterson caring about 'the little people'! The further misunderstanding about the 'illegal aliens' which Patterson has working for him and the closing close encounter with Chopper Dave make this another terrific episode for this season.
