This episode is extremely disappointing. It has good grounds for being a decent episode, with Frasier being asked out by a much younger woman, but it never really gets going. Very few laughs and not enjoyable. |

I have to say that I quite liked this episode. Apart from the humour, I think it makes a realistic point. I personally have not experienced something like this coz I am still a young man, but I have seen many older guys going through mid life crisis and trying to catch up with their younger peers on the scene. I hope I do not have this issue when I grow older :). As far as this show is concerned - its a 7/10 for me. |

Vying with "Death Becomes Him" for weakest episode of the season,
"Fortysomething" - while a necessary look at Frasier's vanity and
feelings of obsoleteness - doesn't have much going for it. The idea of
Frasier being tempted into a relationship with a much younger
woman could be fertile ground for comedy, but I just don't feel like
anything said here was new or interesting. A poor attempt. |

To sum up this episode in one word: Crap. Not one laugh, which would be alright if the plot had anything to do with anything. It didn't. I hate this episode, and you will to. If you haven't seen it, don't see it. I strongly advise against it. |

Aside from a great scene in which Frasier and Niles discuss whether Frasier ought to consider dating a younger woman this isn't one of the best shows in the first season. The plot is enjoyable enough but the episode is light on belly laughs and lacks any interesting subplots to help it along. |

A minor episode which starts off well with some good comedy revolving around Frasier's memory loss but becomes somewhat less interesting when it moves to Frasier's flirtation with a young store assistant, a storyline which isn't helped much by guest actress Sara Melson's rather unconvincing performance. There are some good laughs to be had at KACL when Bulldog is teasing Frasier after he rejects Sara's advances and another good scene with Niles at Nervosa but otherwise not a particularly memorable episode. |
