The Simpsons may finally be ending

Postby Paul B » Fri Oct 07, 2011 2:05 am

I thought this deserved its own thread...

http://www.avclub.com/articles/fox-exec ... d-l,62930/

I never thought I'd see the day. It's around 14 years too late, but I have to admit it's saddened me in a way - I always thought it would be around forever, almost like a security blanket. To me, the Simpsons ended a long time ago, but I'd like to see a subtle, understated finale that the writers really put some effort into, though it wouldn't surprise me if it was some inane guest star showcase.

First Clarence Clemons, then R.E.M., now this.

Granted, it should've been put out to pasture well over a decade ago, but it'll still be a sad day when it does finally end.

Really, this is actually a thing that's happening? I think this has been said before. But I'm glad if it's true. Long overdue.

It's not must watch tv for me, but I think there have been some good episodes scattered throughout the last two or three years. Looks like it's all signed and sealed for another two seasons at least, anyway.

Yeah, I laughed when I read the title of this thread as it was obviously a scare story put out by the creators during contract negotiations. I think it'll be on our screens for a while yet. Personally I haven't bothered with it since season 9 but it's still nice to know it's there if I want it :D

I still think "The Simpsons" is one of the best shows on TV today.

I still like the show. As i said, there have been some damn good episodes scattered through the last few years - episodes that wouldn't look out of place in the so-called classic years.

There were definitely some weak years in there though. I've never been wild about the Oakley/Weinstein years (which I *think* is seasons 7-9, or 8-9), for example.

It really is hard to learn this when you have followed the cartoon series for well over years already. I just hope though that they could salvage at least one final season just to tie loose ends. That would be a lot better than finishing things of by the end of this season, cramping what have to be finished in a few episodes. At least 25 would be another mark.
