Microwaveable meals

Postby Bee Gees Fan » Sun Oct 04, 2009 9:19 pm

What are your opinions? Do you eat them much? Do you think they're unhealthy? Do you like them/dislike them?

I don't eat microwaveable meals too often (I tend to think that eating a pre-packaged, microwaved meal every day for dinner is a bit excessive - home cooking is nice.) I do eat them, though, usually as lunch during the day, or if I'm staying over somewhere and have brought some food for the day.

I've eaten some that I haven't thought are very nice at all. There are microwaveable meals that I like, though - I like a few of the curries and some of the microwaveable Chinese meals are nice.

I wouldn't recommend them to be eaten every day, though.

I don't eat them often, but occasionally I'll have one. Some of them are unhealthy I'm sure, but it's just a matter of choosing the right ones and watching the salt content, etc. Sainsburys do really nice curries and rice - some of them taste very close to the taste of 'proper' Indian restaurant curries. Yum.

I add salt to them! I do like to have salt on my food - I suppose it's something I'll have to watch when I'm older.

I've occasionally had to live/die on microwaveable meals, so I've definitely got something of a love/hate relationship going with them. They're particularly conducive to heavy drinking, I've found.

I really don't like them, I'm little miss homemaker on that front, I tend to make corned beef hash, chicken casserole etc in bulk and freeze them so if I have been on a late at work I just need to put one of them in the microwave, rather than buy a ready meal

Ramen noodles have sustained me through some low-budget periods, and when you haven't had them for a while, they can be absolutely wonderful.

Also, Campbell's chunky soups are terrific, and they have a good variety.

I could go for some these days. I've been too depressed to cook something for ages now (not that I ever have a lot to work with, really).

Not me. I'm already well into the depression party when I start busting those suckers open.

This also has the advantage of not tasting like damp cardboard.
